Sandman, Firebead reappears in Beregost regardless of whether you killed him in CK or not so you can actually kill him, do his quest and then kill him again.

Before you do this in BGEE you should be aware this 'feature' has been fixed... If you kill Firebead in CK he won't be in Beregost.
    Awwww, snap!

Another thing you can do is de-nature the stupid lady who loses the book. Phylidia? I can't remember her name exactly off the top of my head.

But just go and charm person on her, run her down to the same spot I mentioned for fighting watchers. Cast spell, then move during the animation so it fizzles. Rinse and repeat til she's out of spells, then murder her. Because robes!

It makes me wonder how many people you can get away with killing in Candlekeep without making Gorion hostile.

this may sound a little silly, but the find familiar spell will it still be main character only, or will other players be able to cast it? friends online or npc mages?

This topic should be merged with the cheese tactics thread, cause these strategies sure fit. Extra cheddar sir? *winks*

With Tutu, which has Find Familiar, I would polymorph my imp into a brown bear and then start the "training" with Jolanthus and Erik

Shows how long its been since I played the game. I don't even remember being in it.
haha . . . I guess it's Jolandar . . . apparently, it's been a while for me as well. Seeing your screen name before must have addled my brain.

Only if other people see you.

Just before leaving Candlekeep with Gorion, I'd head back over to the Inn and take care of Firebead, this time with my imp polymorphed into a sword spider. The continual poison damage usually takes care of his spells and I hurl darts at him until he croaks. I then make off with 2700XP and the Traveler's Robe until I see Firebead's double again in Beregost.

Since when do Sword Spiders do poison damage?

That sounds like the first time I was trying to recruit Viconia. Running around the woods on the verge of death in a lightning storm.

Ever since they put it in the Polymorph Self spell. Of course, it's in Tutu.

I remember the days of killing Firebead for the XP, but those days came to a rude end for me, the day I installed the SCS mod.

I couldnt play this game anymore without SCS, so I hope they have improved the AI in BG:EE else I will be going back to BGT until a BG:EE SCS is available. :)

I remembered leveling a fighter years ago with a crossbow, sniping Firebeard then exporting my character over and over again.

Another good early powerleveling trick was shooting Shoal the Nereid with crossbows from the edge of the screen before she can talk to you. 5K XP, oh yeah!

Evil is as evil does. So if you're going to play an evil character who's a chip off the old block, the murder spree at Candlekeep fits into that. From an RP vantage it doesn't jibe with Gorion spiriting you out of Candlekeep to protect you, though. But it looks like you're approaching this more from a powergaming standpoint to begin with.

theres nothing more satisfying than killing firebead for that highly delicious 2700 xp. even more so because its so difficult to do. if i cant do it legitimately, then i dont get the xp. i wont give it to myself through import / export/ or shadowkeeper. in the original bg, you could use pause to disrupt spells, or go up and down the stairs to avoid his spells. if i was a mage, it would still be arduous killing him once his spells had run out because he would still be lethal with the dagger - you end up running around the couch trying to time off a good sling shot every few seconds haha. i look forward to seeing what fixes in bgee might have made it harder or easier to kill him >:D

@OsirisMP Also, if your mage has 17 or 18 DEX, you can usually hit him at least once per round with darts (since you get 3 attacks/round) and disrupt his spells, saving you from having to run up and down the stairs, cheesing your way to victory (not that I'm saying I . . . ahem . . . haven't ever done it).

I killed Firebead once. Felt so guilty I had to start over.

I actually don't bother just because it means I'm too high a level. It just seems weird.

@Mortianna Haha yeah darts are also a good way to go. I think that might have to be my strategy considering they will probs fix the stairs and pausing haxxx XD

@elminster - i only ever solo bg; don't do party play its too fiddly and i like a challenge. so for me, the exp from firebead is well needed!!!! ;-)
