what would people argue the most useful armor for a mage thief in BG1 would be?

    I prefer Robe of the Archmagi for daily adventuring, naked (or one of the elemental resistors) when I want to start getting hot and personal with Fire Shield.

    Robes of the Archmagi is never a bad move.

    Agreed. I sometimes use armor on a very low level T/M charname but quickly replace it with a robe or just remove it and use spells instead. I very rarely bother with any robe 'cept the archmagi/vecna.
