purpose of Off Topic forum

In my experience Off Topic is typically for topics having nothing at all to do with either the game in question, or even gaming in general. Like politics, sports, books, movies, TV shows, etc., i.e., pretty much whatever folks want to to talk about. Seems like there are some topics here that might have remained in General. Thoughts about this?

Looking through the topics, the ones that could have stayed in General don't actually discuss BG:EE itself, but are more like social topics with a tangential connection to the game. Maybe they were moved by the topic creators themselves to unclutter the General board.

Given time, I'm sure we'll see more off topic posts here. The forum's only a few days old, and there was no announcement - some people might not even notice it exists yet.

I don't really see the need for this board. When someone posted something Off Topic on the General board it generally didn't attract much interest and quickly fell off the front page.

With all the excitement about the game itself, most forum members are going to remain glued to General. After the game has been out for about a year, perhaps, we'll see regulars posting in an Off Topic forum to talk about their fascination with other games, a movie, a TV show, share a video by favorite music artist, or whatnot. But right now it's all about the game, for sure. I think it makes sense for them to have a forum for non-game related topics to go in even now, though.

This place has potential; like making friends potential. I was one of those liking the idea of an off-topic section. And yes, it goes down to the bottom; the bottom is my favorite part, especially when it's round!
