Abazigal was actually bugged to not be immune in the original game. This was corrected in the EEs, in accordance to the original developers' intentions. Melissan is one of the other characters who possesses that immunity, and she's had it in every game version I'm aware of (I believe there are four such characters in total).
Hmm, the youtube video was a EE gameplay. Maybe it's an earlier version, like v1.2? After all, the video states 2 years ago (2014). I started the game on v1.3 and ended with v2.0, so some issues may have already been corrected?

That sounds right. I believe the Abazigal fix was a 1.3 thing.
No shame in that. You do whatever you like. I always stick to insane, and if I can't beat than one enemy, I usually return to him/her at a later point.

2. Demogorgon
3. Abazigal
4. Noober
After the fight went back to normal and my next big fight was Abazigal, his father. Was able to beat it at normal on my second try.
Next one is SoD, or IWD, or finish Pillars of Eternity
It's still a really good game I enjoyed since it was released decade ago.
