I've rearanged my two week vacation for October and will soon be visiting Ilulissat, Greenland. Nothing better for enduring this waiting game than to be surrounded by beautiful nature.
I have created a new character and started to play from the very beginning . It's a cleric with high intelligence, to be dualed to a mage somewhere in BG 2, so that I can pwn everything starting from Suldanessalar and throughout all ToB. I'll also keep Jaheira in my party, never saw the later stages of the romance.
I plan to put my brain back to normal percentages. 98% porn 2% normal life activities. When it becomes 1 week before release my brain will change to. 98% porn .5% normal life 1.5% BG thinking of my party my character.
GOG.com just came out with a bunch of deals on various D&D games, and I jumped at the opportunity to get a bunch of them:
-Original BG (my 4th disc shattered last year during a run, haven't been able to play since) -NWN diamond Edition - I still have my old Platinum version, but I never had any of the Premium Mods and the game was 6.49, so what the hell. -ToEE - Everybody says this is a good game, but I've never played it. Now is my chance.
I might also look into a few others that they have, but for now this should do.
@Bynary_Fission yeah mate I saw the GOG.com deal too! I'm in two minds about ToEE, let me know what you think.
Because of the delay and timing of GOG.com sale, I found the perfect excuse to finally get IWD. Only just got into chapter 1. It's been awesome so far. I don't know why it took me so long to pick this game up!
I got NWN Platinum a while back but admittedly am kinda bored with it. IWD is perfect to kill the time before BG:EE.
I felt like such an idiot yesterday with that gog sale. I totally was like (hours prior to the announcement of BGEE being delayed) "You guys should consider buying BGEE instead of BG since it comes out in only four days" on the announcement page on gog.com. Needless to say I may have jumped the gun a little on that one

You bet. Neverwinter nights is all about Multiplayer. After downloading it I got the CEP v2 again and opened up the server that I made back in '07 (I was 13 then haha!). I nostalgia'd so hard - I have so many memories about that. If you get bored, make a module with friends. It's a great way to enjoy the game and unleash your inner creativity.
IWD is also a ton of fun. The RP-type crowd tends to lament about the fact that it lacks joinable NPCs, but that's the point - it's much more hack n' slash oriented as opposed to the RPG-stylings of the BG series. Oh, and by the way if you want to play multiplayer sometime in IWD hit me up with a PM and we can work out times to play!
No seriously, I like the idea of being able to enjoy the last few warm weeks outdoors (and not indoors fanatically playing BG) before winter arrives. Work and RL Stuff is also keeping me busy right now, but after x-mas - vacuum. That means BG time!
I haven't played the BG series in four years and now have Windows 7 installed on all my computers, which I have read doesn't play well with the game. Partly for that reason I won't be reinstalling the BG games until BG:EE is released. But mainly because I don't want to dilute the experience of re-immersing myself in the BG gameworld via the new game. And I do mean 'new' game. I expect BG:EE to feel much like a brand new game due to its hi-res graphics, zoom feature, spiffy new GUI, three new characters, and at least one if not two stand-alone adventure modules. I have very high expectations for this gaming experience, and I want it to be the very best it can be.
In the scarce time I could be gaming, I will work on some projects that are BG related.
Started my first playthrough of Planescape: Torment on friday. Two days later I am still in the Hive. This game is absolutely outstanding, the dialoges are so entertaining! Actually I am glad that BG:EE got delayed, otherwise I might have never played PS:T after all .
I'll be finishing a freshly started BG run (though not Bg1, don't want it too freshly played once this gets shipped) and play guild wars 2 and Torchlight 2
@Jarlaxle can you give some feedback too please on ToEE?! It looks good but not sure how it plays..
@Elzarath At very first impression seems like a mix of IWD and NWN (by the interface). I've heard of a bugged game, but the GOG edition probably is already patched (official patches don't detect this version of the game). A little too complicated interface but I think it's a matter of habit. Early to make a judgment but it seems a good game
@Lemernis I run BG, BG2 and IWD on a Windows 7 machine, and I have had zero problems in what amounts to most likely over 100 hours of playtime.
For my experiences , the BG2 can't smoothly run in my Win7 machine , i feel it may cause by some software setting or drive version issue , but i am not engineer , i really don't know how to figure out the root cause.
I won't lie i was looking forward to this release, but i will survive .
Diablo has been keeping me busy for a few days now, and the next patch seems to be another step in the right direction. I also have a few more games to play, and univ is starting up again...
As much as i don't like to wait, i honestly want the game to be as good as possible on launch day... If anything Diablo has taught me is if you rush your game so that fans don't complain about the delays it doesn't actually mean you are making them a favor if you don't provide enough "meat".
