I'd like to think that the continued use of these forums acts as a voice of support to the staff of Overhaul Games. When I first heard of this project, I scoffed. Who dares defile the mona lisa? Who dares take the Holy Grail from it's resting place? However, when I learned that the game and story itself would remain unaltered aside from the removal of bugs, my perspective changed, and here I am.
To everyone in Overhaul Games: I have faith in your competence, and I look forward to the release date so that I can post again here saying that you all have true respect for the Baldur's Gate series. I'm sure this comment can be mocked, but I am a "member" of the niche that treats the series as a holy relic. If even a single member of your team is of that niche, then we, the fans, have nothing to fear.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to revive a classic that would not be seen otherwise by current / future generations. Thank you for taking the time to respond to fan requests, and thank you for working on improvements to this game. When I first heard that BG was going to get some badly-needed work and released again, my entire week became perfect.
I wasn't thrilled about the delay, but that doesn't bother me. Delays are hardly new with the gaming industry, and such things are often inevitable. I know a lot of hard work goes into staying true to a long-time beloved classic, and you are all doing your absolute best by putting many long, thankless hours into this huge project.
But, in reading this thread, I suppose it's not entirely thankless anymore
