Beamdog Client Problem

Every time I start the Beamdog client I get the limited connectivity issue. Mind you this is after I downloaded SoD. The client also freezes, can't access the games or close the client (have to force it shut) What's going on?

    Exact same problem, but I haven't purchased or downloaded Siege of Dragonspear.

    Limited Connectivity issue, shows that both BG:EE and BGII:EE would have patches to download but the client immediately freezes if I try to click anything. Nothing works in the Beamdog client.

    The last time that I used the client / the games was a week or two back, so I don't think it should be a problem on my end having done something to break it.

    Edit: Since it was mentioned in another post, I have recently updated my .NET framework to the last patch... could this be causing any issues..?

    I'm also getting this issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client, but it just freezes in less than 20 seconds after loading. I've had a look at the trace files generated but nothing useful seems to be in them.

    Lots of errors about Prerequisite has not been downloaded, but doesn't mention what.

    I'm facing exactly the same issue right now.
    Opening the client, at first it works but displays "limited connectivity".
    Then, after say 10 seconds, it freezes.

    Also the same issue.
    Yesterday I downloaded the new DLC and got some stability issues until I was able to make the full download.
    Today, I have "limited connectivity" message, and launcher crashes after 10s.
    Solution: run directly the game

    I guess the question is it working for ANYONE, given the new release and patch I'm assuming they are having issues or tweaking things or overwhelmed.

    I seem to be able to download manually just fine from the beamdog webpage under my account.

    same problem here! I can't even update the basic game... I tried deactivate the antivirus and it worked for a little bit and then stopped working again... there is a way to update bgee and bg2ee without using the beamdog client?

    I know you can download the game, log into your account on their webpage, select the drop down where you username is in the upper right and select "my account".

    If you use that installer I don't know for sure what that does if you installed through the client, but I was starting from scratch anyways and uninstalled the client and removed the games. I installed BG1 so far and am downloading SoD right now. BG1 shows up as version 2.something

    I reinstalled the client, with the following result:
    1) basically no changes, client stops responding after 10secs
    2) my settings were reset and as I changed the default games location games now show as not downloaded
    3) being quick enough (10s window), and trying to change the location settings, fully crashes the client

    So no solution in other words. Good job Beamdog (that's sarcasm). Don't you people test stuff anymore? Used to be when a game was released, it didn't need 5 patches before it'd work right, certainly never messed with stuff unrelated to it.

    Same issue here. I'm able to sign in and launch games fine, but the client crashes w/in about 20sec of launching. This happens whether or not I choose to launch a game; the client will crash in the background while I'm playing if I've launched a game. Not really hindering my ability to play, but it's kind of annoying that i have to force close the client any time I exit the game.

    For what it's worth, you can launch the game under the C:\Program Files (x86)\BeamDog\Games\00806 (for SoDS) bypassing the client altogether.

    Still pretty strange... maybe too many people are buying the game at once =P

    Bah for now bypassing the client. Though I noticed something else, the 'preload' is complete but still listed as downloading? Anyone else got that?

    had the same problem

    for me this works:
    uninstall client
    clear all remaining client files from beamdog folder (default is C:\Program Files (x86)\BeamDog) but don't delete Games folder if exists
    delete beamdog from registry (HKCU\software\beamdog)
    install client
    profit

    So today - doing nothing - works.

    Yesterday I had a "limited connectivity" message, no longer present at the moment.

    My guess is that the client becomes unstable when connection to Beamdog servers breaks.

    I fixed the problem removing the antivirus, uninstall and reinstall openAL and the beamdog client... now it works and I just finished downloading sod.... but there is another problem... bg2ee is not working anymore, and I cannot update it because the download doesn't start.
    so now I can play bgee and sod but not bg2ee... weird!

    ok, just erased the bg2 folder and downloading it again...let's see :)
    anyone else could solve the problem with the crash of beamdog client?

    everything works now!! :)

    I am having the same problem. All my games are downloaded and working fine. Yesterday no issues with the client, today I get the message limited connectivity and the client freezes up seconds after logging in. Any word from Beamdog on this reoccurring issue?

    It does indeed seem to be recurring, I have the same problem, again. Including the issue of not being able to close the launcher. I suppose the game is still playable, but downloading games seems to be impossible.

    I was able to eliminate my freezing by forcing the beamdog client to run as administrator.

    @Amberion, not sure if that's a viable solution for everyone, since on my pc the client runs as admin automatically. But it never hurts to try though. :)

    We do have a large number of folks who are able to use the Beamdog client successfully. In some cases, issues are caused by firewalls (business and home) or ISPs which are actively blocking bittorrent traffic. If you are in this type of situation and cannot reconfigure to allow the traffic, you can request a Steam key from support@beamdog.com

    BG1EE and 2EE worked fine. Downloaded and installes SoD on launch day - no problems at all. Next day i got the limited connectivity issue and the client and the game crashed.
    Today I did a clean install of Windows 10 (different reasons, not BG :smile: ). Installed the client, started downloading SoD and BG2EE - crash.
    I used to run the client without problems before and now I can't, even after clean install. No offence, but i'm inclined to think that the trouble is at your end :wink:

    It seems I spoke too soon. The Beamdog client just locks up completely after a few seconds of use. There doesn't seem to be any particular thing causing it. It just hangs. I have to kill the process. Not even downloading anything, just sitting there doing nothing, and it hangs.

    I don't know what you guys did, if you guys did anything, even, but all of a sudden it's started working again without a hitch.
