BGEE - Game crashes when I create a new character

After the patch, my game always crashes when I create a new character. Always after selecting the gender.
I've tried uninstalling and doing a fresh install (deleting all BG related folders) but it's still the same.
When I load an old game all character portraits look scrambled.
Never installed any mods and I'm using the Beamdog client.
Anyone else? Any fix? Anything?

Edit: Setting "Baldur.exe" compatibility to windows 98/windows ME seems to have fixed my problem. Must be some problem with windows 10 i guess.
Guess I'll be holding off on getting SoD for a while.
I thing that problem connected with portraits bug.
I use netbook with Intel Atom CPU N450 1,66 GHz (Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150)
Windows Vista Business 32-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz 1.80GHz
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
2.0GB RAM
Thanks
Options -> Graphics -> Alternate renderer (presumably it is currently disabled). Once set you need to click Done -> Quit Game -> Quit, then restart the game.
edit, and a couple more thoughts.
When you said "deleting all BG related folders" in your first post, was that for the install (e.g. C:\beamdog\...) and files (e.g. this pc > documents > baldur's gate...)
& does a new game with a pregen such as Abdel work?
A couple more notes: I'm running as administrator, I'm running in 32-bit color mode, I don't have any anti-virus software and I just tried disabling Windows Firewall (no change).
Also, my opening post said I was able to load an old saved game with scrambled portraits. This only happened once. Whenever I try this now, the game crashes just like in the other scenarios. Even after completely uninstalling (and deleting) everything. Very weird, if you ask me...
- Zip and attach the latest crash dump (should be in documents > infinity engine - enhanced edition > crash for v2.n.
- From the Windows command line/prompt, run dxdiag and once it finishes choose save all information, and attach the resulting txt file
- Temporarily disable any antivirus software to see if that makes a difference
- Advise whether the Beamdog install is to c:\program files\... or somewhere else.
- Does the documents > baldur's gate - enhanced edition folder have a compatibility icon e.g. as below.
ThanksAfter launching the game what does the Options -> Graphics screen show for OpenGL version and build.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81508/Graphics-Drivers-for-Mobile-Intel-965-Express-Chipset-Family filtered by Windows Vista 32 bit is indicating the most recent driver would be April 2012 v15.12.4.16, your dxdiag indicates a driver from February 2008 v7.14.10.1437.
If that's correct, could you try updating drivers and reporting back please. It's worth trying both renderers again if you can get updated.
Thank you
Thanks for the help!
Thanks
Also now that the options selected in-game are remembered I tried to select Alternate Renderer. With this option I get the error 'Could not compile DirectX shaders'.
First off, looks like you may need to install directx 9.0c, which should install alongside directx 11

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/48011/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-3150-Intel-GMA-3150- looks to have a newer driver for Win7-64 from November 2013. Link to that driver is https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19493/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-3150-Driver-for-Windows-7-64-bit?product=48011
@elminster may be able to help further as I believe he has a GMA 3150 chipset available.
Thanks
SetPrivateProfileString('Graphics','Backend','0')
Alternately rename the baldur.lua file and a new one should be created with the default renderer enabled.
