I'm recalling that even with NWN they fixed the locked camera perspective with a patch not long after release. This is really testing my memory from a decade ago now. But after they unlocked the camera it seemed to work fine. That's how I'm remembering it. I don't recall there ever being a camera issue with NWN2.

There is quite a lot to expand on with NWN 2. But imo that is too big a job for an expanded edition as the problems are extensive right down to system design.

Neverwinter Nights 2 was the buggiest experience I have had with a game until I played Fallout 3, patches have made it better, but that was my initial experience. There was not a lot there plot wise (not a very fleshed out experience) in the main campaign, not talking expansions. A lot of characters you got given and couldn't even choose who to have in your party initially. You got railroaded early on into either joining the city guard or the thieves to enter the inner city and this did not suit a lot of character types. Plot being condensed like this was a symptom of high 'graphics' requirements and this also affected the ai with it being rather limited for both creatures and your party members.

You couldn't play it tactically like pause and issue orders because the default ai was so bad even after patches. Sure you can switch it off but the characters/monsters simply moved too fast even when pausing a lot. (And did things not expected even with ai turned off). Things got very confusing very fast with all the status effects all over the screen. I played initially as a sorceror and that turned out to be a very wise course of action, meaning I could just spam area of effect spells.

I mean you could make an EE but you would have to fix the combat system which would be a huge undertaking and I think it would require a significant rewrite of the plot that is already there to make it a good game. (like adding flags and plot events for different classes and races which was lacking). Just my opinion of course but man this game annoyed me. Compared with the fluidity of baldur's gate in its world design and combat system I think it lacked rather badly. To each his own through, everyone has different tastes in games.

Would be nice if NWN2 was converted to rules in BG rather then ones in NWN games, still don't like the way rules changed and work even though run a NWN2 PW. Would be great to have enhanced 2nd ed NWN2 for building PWs etc

A lot of "problems" people had with NWN2 were simply because it required a not a totally outdated PC to run on. Real time lighting/soft shadows arent cheap, and people were trying to run it on their 1999 year hardware. Were it to be remade the quality of the game would be worse actually. Nwn2 is one of the last games targeting PC market. Now everything is a console port. Quality will get worse. Im pretty sure Nwn2 looks better than Dragon Age 2. They would have to bump it to Battlefield3 level to actually increase graphics. Do you really believe it will happen?

how about a "give us back our neeshka romance option" pack.

I have voted 'No' on the basis of the fact that I would not love to see it.

I find a lack of "I don't give a thing." option here distrurbing.

Not me. I'd never play it. Actually I couldn't bring myself to ever finish NWN2. It's slightly better than Dragon Age, Skyrim etc. but still sucks badly compared to Baldur's Gate.

    I didn't vote for either.

I'd love to see a NWN2 enhanced experience. But unlike the BG series (especially BG2), NWN2 suffers from some other flaws that need fixing. In particular, more NPC dialogue, particularly on the romance front, and the possibility of having more NPCs in a party at a time, which in turn would require tweaking difficulties. Effectively, "improving" NWN2 requires BGifying it: more NPCs, in the party more of the time, with more interaction.

I wouldn't buy an "Enhanced Edition" of NWN, though I would be thrilled with an Android port for it. I've seen enough well-designed Tegra-based games to believe that NWN could conceivably function fairly effectively on a Tegra-based device.

The game was awesome - well, Mask of the Betrayer was - , but that doesn't mean it should get any kind of remake. I mean, should Dragon Age get an EE? Should ME2? These games still work great on modern OSes and hardware, they still look good, what's the point? Sure, it'd be nice, in a world where talent and time is infinite, to make somehow enhanced versions of these games; but given that talent and time is actually not infinite, would you rather see the investement go into some new IP or other remakes? I can name so many better options: a new Baldur's Gate game; IWD:EE; IWD2:EE; PST:EE; any new IP, Project Eternity-style, etc.

I never left the city ..the graphics and quests where just tooooo dull, though my buddies kept praising this game. I actually later bought all the expantions and NWN II etc in the naive hope that I would pull myself together and play it.

I -loved- both Neverwinter Nights games, but I see no reason for an "enhanced edition", instead I would love to see an NWN 3, not this... Neverwinter MMO bullshit what they are pushing out. And certainly not 4th ED.

And looking at the posts in this thread, I must say that I actually didn't enjoy Mask of the Betrayer at all. Alright, lets be honest, I never even finished it. But when we go beyond epic levels, I just start to lose interest faster than it's possible to shut down the game.

I did enjoy NWN2 OC and SoZ though. Only thing what I didn't like in the OC was the very beginning, forced past and what not. And currently 3/4 way of finishing SoZ with a friend, certainly enjoying our playthrough.

EDIT: I do agree that NWN 2 had plenty of cliches, probably more than the first one, but I still enjoyed every minute of the game. Played through it as a dual wield fighter alone, and as a bard/eldritch knight with my friend. After SoZ we'll be going to Wulverheim, which seems quite interesting. And I just recently started Westgate, and I'm sure I'll enjoy myself with it.

EDIT 2: Neverwinter Nights 2 just required one important "mod". Disabling annoying spell effects, especially mage shields, shields and what not. They did clearly cut corners when doing them, but I'm not picky over details here. Also prefer the 3.5 e ruleset, because of the freedom what it offers.

EDIT 3: I didn't find NWN2 that buggy at all (started playing on the very first day of release.) I remember only running into one, on our coop playthrough. But that was due to us not having the newest version, screwed up patching and what not. Thank the Gods for Steam giving us working patching, no problems what so ever anymore!

But to talk further about bugs, I do aknowledge them being there. Looking at the wiki alone, and seeing how the spell mechanics are broken down - yup, they exist. But what I meant above is that I haven't ran into anything what I would've noticed in game.

EDIT 4: Since the "no" option was formated like that, I picked yes.

I rather would like to see Planescape Torment enhanced, because especially in the end there had been much content left out. I would like to see this restored.

I think BG1 was a clear candidate for enhancement because it had the aesthetically superior and more evolved BG2 after it (expanded rulesets!). BG2 thus shows us a hundred ways to make BG1 better. In contrast, NWN2 had two expansions but no true follow-up. it's unclear how to perfect it.

Now, re-making NWN1...that I'd love to see. In 3.5e maybe. I actually would not want the revised NWN2 engine for NWN1EE, seems to be slower than I'd like.

    Both are great games.

I don't care much for either of NWNs. (A sad, sad fact: I played them through only once, at my friend's comp. The only reason why I bought my own copy later is that I wanted to play the "Sex & The Single Adventuress mod, and I didn't want anyone to know about that. When the only reason to buy a game is a fan-made, semi-pornographic mission, based primarily on immature adult humor... yeah. Not the best recommendation for the game itself.)

Anyway, what on Earth would you want to enhance in NWN2? There weren't any major bugs that I recall, and the graphics should hold well enough even today. Unless you'd like to enhance the story, character interaction and party mechanics, but to do that you'd have to completely rework the game, and that would give both the fans and the lawyers a cardiac arrest. ;D

I love both NWN and NWN2, with their expansions. However, I don't think that either one of them is a candidate for the "enhanced" treatment. They are not old enough.

Plus, there are too many truly "old" classics that *do* need enhancing: BG, BG2, PS:T, IWD, and IWD2, for starters.

And, you could go even farther back to find plentiful candidates for "enhancement": Might and Magic 6-8, Wizardry, Heroes of Might and Magic 1-4, and many others. Maybe even Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, or Sacred 1.

I think that, if BG:EE is as successful as we hope, the devs should finish up with Infinity Engine enhancements, maybe start work on BG3, and, if BG:EE is wildly successful, start trying to get licensing rights and partnerships with New World Computing, (I guess that's Ubisoft now - yuck), and even Microsoft for the DS games.
