UI question, feeling silly, Dwarven Defender Defensive Stance

Um, how do I toggle this stance or activate the ability? I don't see a button for it.
Level 1 character. On my bar is Talk, 3 quick weapon slots, a small gap, another quick weapon slot, guard, wider gap, use item (grayed out), 3 quick item slots, and special abilities (grayed out).
I realized when I was fighting the rats and the AI had activated it, and I couldn't turn it off after the fight. But when I go to AI off I can't see how to activate it.

Clicking that opens your character abilities, and there you can select Defensive stance.
Edit: you dont get DS untill level 3 I believe(I am playing a DD too but I dont remember when I got the ability)
You only get so many uses per day, it is not a toggle.
But yeah, it's in the "Special Tab" where your... well... special abilities go. You can get a few of them, depending on your class, and story stuff. Only toggles like Bard Song or Turn Undead are on the main list, making them easy to click on-and-off. And you should get more uses of your Defensive Stance ever four levels, so you should have about 3 of them by the time you hit the level cap in this game.
