What did I break?

So I've been tying to do a bunch of no reload runs, but I I've been failing spectacularly. I figured its just because I haven't played in a while, but then I started to pay attention to the damage numbers and something is very wrong. Arrows will consistently do around 12 damage. Random trash mobs will also do between 12-18 damage. I finally decided to test it out on Shar-Teel to see if damage was really out of whack or it was just me because I can know for sure what damage she is supposed to be doing. With her long sword she was doing 11-15 (is supposed to be 4-11) and with her dagger I saw 9-11 (is supposed to be 4-7). I'm sure the range is larger but I got tired of dying and reloading. Before anyone asks, I am on core difficulty with no mods installed. I tried moving the difficulty slider up and down but it just modifies the out of whack number. I tried checking the no damage increase with difficulty increase square, but no change. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is your party fatigued? Fatigue applies a negative luck bonus that results in, among other things, taking extra damage.

For Shar-Teel's damage she might be specialised in a weapon depending on her level - so there's an extra +2 taking her up to 6-13 with her longsword.

Tbh, I thought it was just me having some time away from the game.... But the THAC0 and dmg of mobs does seem abit buffed. Either that or I'm having the worst possible luck, my latest game I spent the first 5 or so levels of easy because enemies kept getting lucky shots in on my main PC and thus quickly killing em in most scenarios.

Have you considered the possibility that YOU didn't break anything....?

Is it just fighting Shar-Teel that you are noticing this or is it that you are dying everywhere? There a few random encounters that are a bit difficult when you travel. I even lost a NPC during one encounter when you are waylaid as you travel.

Either you are having a string of horrible rolls or they are having some good ones - and it happens - its surprising at times when they get critical hits and wham - your hp is cut in half and you are screaming for "medic!!!"

I fixed it. Incase anyone else is having this problem you have to remove Baldur.ini from the Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition folder. I had to start a new game to see a difference, but those two nice chaps in Candlekeep are no longer 1-2 shotting me (turns out they are only supposed to do 1 damage).
@Incantus89 You probably have the same problem because THACO for mobs also seemed to be boosted.

I would have thought for no reload runs, the most important consideration is defense, not how much damage your party is doing?

If your PC keeps on getting killed, move them out of the way. Ranged weapons are your friends, bows in BG are game breaking.

I find in BG, melee is literally a last defence for the early levels. My charname skips around like an olympic runner rather than actually use the sword/mace she carries around.
