Is SoD worth playing without SCS?

As the title asks, is it worth it?
I got the game but haven't jumped in yet. What I want to know is if the game is challenging enough in it's vanilla state or should I just wait for the SCS update? Are there any improvements to the enemy A.I?

    I have heard that updates to the AI have been implemented but for SOD only. Also, LOB mode is a step above insane and should up the challenge considerably. At the moment a problem exists that causes the difficulty to move around on it's own. This is a problem because LOB mode cannot be re-enabled after it is chosen at the start of the game, so if it turns off on it's own you cannot turn it back on. I have heard the devs are currently working on a fix.

    Hello friend. I believe it is worth playing without SCS, there are some AI improvements and new enemy types as well as the addition of larger scale battles which should keep things interesting enough for a first playthough at lest. It can't hurt to give it a try anyway, you start the expansion in a dungeon so you can see how the combat goes pretty easily.

    @SmilingSword You now I'm an SCS player. I find playing SoD on Insane to be quite challenging, actually. I think that AI is the best element of SoD, so, to me, SoD is worth playing without SCS.

    And I don't know if SCS will be upgraded to work on SoD content.

    Thx guys I will give it a bit of wait till they fix that bug @the_sextein mentioned, then I'm jumping right in, well as long as they finish fixing it this weekend cause is DS3 all week, next week for me XD

    I hated mob spawns on Insane. If I abused Webs and area of effect spells, it was no harder than normal difficulty. If I didn't, I got slaughtered.
