(Spoilers) Khalid Bug?

in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
So I just finished the Bridgefort battle and it seems Khalid died during the battle, since I found his items on the ground. is this a bug, and should I reload and do it again, or continue playing and he will come back at a later time?
