Unfortunate Gear Selections

So, when creating a new party, the default gear selections you're given are... extremely unfortunate. While the game quickly provides you with some opportunities to fix this with mundane weapons, once you hit town and start trying to equip for your expedition... the only mechants available don't sell weapons / armor.

I'm getting 1 or 2 rings and amulets of protection +1 per character -- to the point where I'm selling off the excess because I flat out can't equip that many rings, even before they start fighting with the amulets and cloaks and armors -- but not enough magic weapons. For example, my swashbuckler needs two shortswords, and has to make do with either a mundane shortsword for his offhand, or a dagger her isn't proficient with.

Is there any way to improve the gearing, or am I just stuck with this?

That's a good thought. Though it's still odd that I'm drowning under +1 protection jewelry.

When you are leaving town with all the fanfare, the quartermaster is there and will sell you decent gear... Your focus in town should be aquiring as much funds as you can.
