Apologies for my ignorance of FR lore (I'm no bard), but just saw a glaring assumption that may (or more likely may not) be relevant: Are we sure that Baldurs Gate and Athkatla are in the same hemisphere? A lot of the assumptions I see here are based on seasons, and if the Northern hemisphere is 6 months behind, then that could throw things off a bit. Anyway, feel free to ignore me if I'm way off.
Athkatla is just south of the mountains in the south of the map in BG1. It is just "over the hills" really.
Nice map of the area right here, if you are interested.
BG starts in Mirtul 1368 which is our May SoD starts in Uktar 1368 which is our November BG2 starts in Mirtul 1369 Currenty have no ToB save to say whet it starts
I think info from FRwiki is about novel and ^ is from ingame journals.
The Grand History of the Realms, which is the official timeline book fro the setting, states the whole saga starts and finishes in a single year. I guess the sources contradict each other a bit.
Cool nick. Swedish?
Novels were canon when it was published anyway. Haven't read Minsc-comics but it seems WotC are retconning some BG-novels events making Minsc more like he was in games.
I think the important thing for most is that the *games* fit together narratively not with some novel. I had always assumed the series took place over 2-3 years with a gap of around 6 months to a year between end of 1 and 2. Otherwise the growth feels too artificial and accelerated.
there i and will always be plot holes in games like this, from BG 1 to BG 2 there was major plot holes people died and they came back, its just how it was, i think SOD does a good thing in bridging what happens between BG1 and 2 nicely.

True. In BG1 I rescued Dynaheir and then promptly had a halberd shoved through her back. When I awoke in BG2, Minsc was freaking out about how Irenicus had tortured and killed her right in front of him. "No Minsc, she died months ago in the gnoll stronghold. It's true that it was in front of you though - you were the one with the halberd." To be honest that one seems like a bigger plot hole to me. Unless he's really deep in denial.
What they could do would be releasing SoD and then BG2EE with slight changes to the original story to straighten any gaps in the plot but ye, BG2EE was released already, maybe in order to raise more funds required for Sod, or maybe they didn't think about such possibility or maybe just they didn't want to make any changes to 20 years old classic

It's actually a contractual thing, or at least it was. Beamdog couldn't change any lore in the old games, only add to it.
