I had the same import problems, then somebody here suggested to do a load instead. I couldn't figure out how, then finally I copied the BG1\save\0000002-Final Save folder over to BG1\sodsave. Then I did a load instead of import and there my game was. All my containers, bag, spellbook, came over no problem. I did lose some jewelry but after reloading and putting it in a bag everything came through fine.

I also did the same thing at the end of the first dungeon when the party disbanded. A lot of items were in the chest upstairs in the palace, but again jewelry and a few other things were missing. Everything came through fine in containers though.

Also on the pathfinding...sigh... I did see a good suggestion from someone abut waypoints and it worked. If you hold Shift and Alt down, then click a few times along a path you want the characters to follow, they will move from waypoint to waypoint to the end. You don't see anything displayed, but they do follow the clicked path.

I remember the downloading from Beamdog slowness from earlier BGEE releases. I was getting worse than 1000ms download speeds, and often had to restart the download so I could get to a server that was within 4,000 miles of me.

Issues raised with Beamdog about this led to some dismissive comments about how their process "works". Works? Maybe. Works well? No.

I guess they haven't had an opportunity to improve this, or simply are happy with it.

I actually managed to find that post. Can't believe I found it. In case anyone cares:

Speed varies on which server you are getting each chunk from. We've got many servers out there and sometimes you get a slow chunk. The system works.

Well, technically yes, it worked, but I hope you are not trying to imply that 200 bytes per second download speeds are in any way efficient. It seems it would be far better to say something like:

"yep, our servers are getting hammered from the flood of downloads, and so you're going to see some unacceptably slow download speeds at times. Sorry about that. I recommend that you go do something else and let the downloader do its thing."

I mean, when I did the initial preload a few days ago it never got that slow, not even close. So clearly your servers are getting hammered. It not like it's entirely unexpected, but it seems odd to just completely act like it's all humming along nicely.

    Just sayin'

One suggestion that helped me attain faster download speeds and finish the download was to pause the download for a few seconds and then resume it. Immediate improvement to almost 100K/s and it finished within a couple minutes.

Yeah, that's even more work than you really need to do. Just select BG1 in the menu and load your final save or complete the game. You'll see the ending cinematic and SoD will start automatically with all the loot, spells, etc. exactly as you left it.

I'm curious, did the download times get better after the initial release? Since my original BGEE is on the Beamdog platform, it sounds like I'm stuck with this platform if I should eventually elect to purchase SoD.

    9 hours sounds pretty horrendous.

@JonSnowIsAlive Pretty much what I thought.
I would give more to the plot (personal taste, but imo 5 is way too low) and the journal since, if you didn't notice, you can click on every single arrow to read even more details (not very intuitive, tho)

Also, I would give less than 5 to the pathfinding...!!
God... That was a torture. Characters not able to walk around other characters/NPCs slower than them or getting stuck against a wall, unable to find the right path to reach destination without fog of war - that really made me mad, and I love to micro.

I agree with the bugs but, most of all, incomplete things (items with no purpose, cave-door-wannabe, etc).

Once again: the music and the locations were superb.

I definitely enjoyed the plot, too. Unfortunately, everything was a little bit too fast-pace.
I know we're trying to avoid a war and we shouldn't be allowed to take all the time of the world to do it, but even ToB was in similar circumstances and I didn't have the same "must-go-faster" feeling.

    *Side note: SoD > ToB*

Overall I really enjoyed it. But yeah, with more feedbacks could have been amazing.
