Multiplayer functionality after upgrade

Hi all, New to the forum. Been loving Baldur's Gate as well as Icewind Dale playing with my family in a multiplayer session. After applying the "Update" with all its sleek new look, we can no longer do multiplayer. My daughters and wife get "Cannot connect to the game session." We bought IWD before BGEE and played thru the whole game without issues. We never applied the "update" to IWD and it still allows us to use the multiplayer functionality. Same was true for BGEE until we applied the "update". Can anyone shed some light on this ? I have submitted a request to the help desk but haven't heard anything.
I know the folks at Beamdog work hard to bring back the classics, but I really don't care about the newest release with Dragonspire if I can't play the games I have already bought and paid for. I go by the motto, if it isn't broke do not fixed it. Or don't make a change to accessing the game until you know it will actually works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rednoth and family.

Thanks typo, I sure hope you are right. I put in a service request and got back nothing useful. I was referred to Steam to roll back my version to 1.3, but I didn't buy it thru Steam. No help there. Then I was referred to the Multiplayer Forum to see how others have tackled the problem. Not really the customer service I am used to...: (

For those of you who bought the game thru Steam, are you able to use the multiplayer with the update ?
