in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
I know I have to get the Enhanced BG 1st for SoD, but do I also have to get BGII? Am I good to go with just BG?

    @Rickenbacker It depends. If you're planning to play the same character from BG I to SOD and then from BG2 to ToB you'll need BGII EE as the vanilla BG2 can't read EE saves.

    Damn! This is pretty confusing! Actually, I really just wanted to play SOD on its own. I haven't played any of the BG games in *years* & when I did, it was on a long-discarded laptop.

    @Rickenbacker Then you need BGEE and SoD. For contractual reasons Beamdog only could release SoD as an expansion to BG I. But you may start a game straight in SoD and ignore the BG I portion of the game if you wish to do so.

    Note also that BGI is heavily discounted right now - It's 75% off on Steam, not sure about elsewhere.
