How do you feel about the breach of "one Steve limit" trope in BG?

You can check out this page for the said trope.

This is of course a minor thing. I'm sure many people haven't even noticed this let alone being bothered by it, but it is a pet peeve of mine that you encounter a Neira who wants to kill you, and a Sendai with whom you might end up fighting in the first game.

I don't even know why I feel this way, characters sharing names is actually realistic; but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth, regardless. In fact, since these names aren't voiced, or referenced by anyone other than the characters themselves, I wish they were replaced with some other names.

Just think of all the walkthrough's you'll break if you rename these characters.
I think it is fine since, as you mentioned, the characters are very minor to cause too much confusion.

I don't mind. As you say, it's logical, and the duplicate characters aren't important. I don't usually bother encountering Sendai in most BG1 runs.

In some cases it just comes down to characters that exist in source material having similar names. Shandalar vs Shangalar for instance.

Garrick is not the same in BG1 and BG2 (BG1 Garrick was eloquent with Skie but the one in BG2 was a bumbling fool)
Quayle is not the same either (no way a gnome can go from self obsessed jerk to a wise man who travelled for a long time with a circus in just a few months)

    So Steves over the saga
