I recently came across this Dorn portrait while browsing the web. I like the purple background - I think it highlights his facial features much better.
I also found this Neera portrait with a different (and better, IMO) skin tone.
Here are (much, much) larger versions of both pictures:
That is a wonderful portrait by MiLeah @Foggy posted. I was wondering, could anyone with the skills to do so replace the leather armor with chain or plate to make it more suitable for a fighter? You could keep or remove the black cloth at your preference.
To be totally honest I never really liked the BG style of portrait but its grown on me. However there are some portraits I still simply do not like at all.
Viconia, Anomen, Aerie, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen, and Minsc all super suck. lol.
Thanks for those alt pics tho :-)
EDIT: I am currently using the alts for Jaheira, Imoen, and Viconia that @Syntia13 created that I used in BG1EE for BGE2EE. I will go ahead and use those Aerie, Yoshimo, and Anomen alts too.
After a very long hiatus from the forums, I'm going to try to upload a portrait here and there.
@SharGuidesMyHand: Here's one take on Scarlett's image. I tried to match the tone to the default portraits, but you may want to lighten it a bit if it's not your taste.
wow that is amazing. i was wondering could you drow her? i would love to use that pic as my new Viconia pic
Now, there's this stunning Pisha portrait drawn by Sunradio over at deviantart. I'm quite fond of this piece of fine art, if only it's a tad to bright for my taste. So I did some colour arrangements just for the heck of it and liked the end results. While I do think meeting an Mulan/Chultan vamp is rather unlikely, these portraits might still be of some use to some.
@fitscotgaymer: I don't think I have the Photoshop file, so it may take a bit longer, as I'll have to split the image. Do you have any preferences in terms of clothing/cloaks/colors/etc.?
@Ryofu: How is this? It appears a bit dark on my screen, but looked fine when I used it in the game. You can adjust it to your taste. I threw in Viconia's headpiece since you mentioned you wanted to use it as a replacement image, and I changed her armor to a darker purple as well since the color represents Shar.

I'm still trying to work my way (very slowly) through the first portraits I had posted in this thread, remaking them with my new method. This one was one of my early favorites, and the original photo had great natural lighting and contrast, making it easy to work with.
@Isandir That portrait is gorgeous! < 3 The lighting, colors and armor are all awesome, and I remain jealous of your hair-drawing skills.
Below are three portraits that I technically posted already, but I kept tweaking them afterwards until I was really happy with how they looked in-game, and thought I might as well show you the latest version of The Trio:
*jumps in place* Oh, oh, does it mean 'Nathaniel' works with ZBG2:EE? Did you test it? Or is there a new version? Please tell me I can take my kensei honey on the enhanced journey! Pleeease?
@Isandir wow great to see you here again Could you baldurize my portrait, please? If you have some free time of course! It's allready a perfect portrait, I just can't find a filter for the BG painting style (
While looking for the files for one of the latest requests, I came across a few templates I had saved, and I thought some of you might be interested in seeing the stages some of my portraits go through. In this case the ones I had saved were for CuChoinneach, a character from Dark Side of the Sword Coast.
The first step is always selecting a model. I try to use real models and/or celebrities to reduce the chances of copyright issues. In this case the lucky winner was the fabulously named Fabio Salsa:
After choosing the appropriate armor and determining what I have in mind in respect to appearance, I cut out pieces of the image and start tinkering. In order to make the editing process easier, I usually separate skin, hair, lips and eyes. Although I sometimes have armor/clothing in mind, quite often I end up using whatever looks like it fits best. In the case of CuChoinneach, the character's creator had a specific look in mind: black leather armor, white hair and a hood.
After making the armor and model fit together better, I added the hood, positioning it so it could be blended with the other elements, and began changing the skin tone and eye color.
After blending the base character model, the last stage is adding a background and other minor elements, and smoothing them into a cohesive whole. In this case that included the addition of identifying character pieces--the scars, scimitar and symbol of Sehanine--and adding better lighting and shadows.
Once you begin to simply experiment in Photoshop or other image editing programs, you start to get better quickly, and it really does become fun.
Hello comrades. I was wondering if, in their spare time, maybe someone can turn this picture of Melissa Clarke into a Baldur's Gate style portrait? I was hoping for a Thief/Assassin themed one.
Sadly my photomanip/artistic skills are not anywhere close to the level of some of the men and women on this forum.
@fitscotgaymer: Is this close to what you had in mind? It doesn't blend quite as well as I'd like, as I had to cut the .png and create a portion of his neck that didn't exist, but the end result looks fine in the game.
@Mungri Nice find, I particularly liked this one so I went searching. It looses some of it's charm when you don't include the whole image but the distortion from re sizing was too distracting for my taste. Besides I like my S and M Portraits to differ, here's my take.

I suppose the time has come to start looking for alt BG2 portraits.
Viconia, Anomen, Aerie, Jaheira, Nalia, Imoen, and Minsc all super suck. lol.

So only Nalia, Nathaniel, and Minsc left. lol.
