If you could assemble an adventuring party using celebrities, or more specifically characters they have played in films and TV, who would you assemble?

Here would be my Golden Age of Television party, lol:

Fighter--Hoss Cartwright ("Bonanza")
Mage--Samantha Stevens ("Bewitched")
Bard--Maynard G. Krebs ("The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis")
Ranger--Daniel Boone ("Daniel Boone")
Thief--Alexander Mundy ("It takes a Thief")
Druid--Fred Ziffel ("Green Acres")

to illustrate the point.

What would yours be?

Oh my god Lem. I'm older than most of the crowd here and a bit of a TV geek .. But man, you're really dating yourself with these references. I don't think I've thought about or heard anyone mention the name "Dobie Gillis" in *at least* twenty years. :D

That said, I think Hoss Cartwright is an AWESOME pick for a fighter. I can't let that go, though, without asking you what his alignment might be.

I'll be a little more current with my picks (*cough*):

Jean Luc Picard - Paladin? Or maybe sorcerer? I'm thinking Chaotic Good.

Worf - Gotta be a Lawful Good Berserker Fighter.

Spock - True Neutral, of course. And I'm thinking sorcerer (pretty sure that nerve pinch is a level 2 Necromancer spell).

Thinking about it a little more: I'm picking Hawkeye Pierce for my Cleric. And maybe picking up Grizzly Adams as a pure caster druid.

For my Ranger, if you let me get away with it, I'm going for John McClane. One of the key class features of a Ranger (and it seems to exist in both BG games) is the ability to adapt quickly to your environment, whatever that is. McClane pretty much does that immediately and effortlessly in all the Diehard movies.

    @Brude

Yep, and I remember those shows well too, lol. That was a repost from 2001 on the Ironworks forum to boot.

    More contemporary:

Mage - hard not to pick Ian McClellan's Gandalf... but maybe Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier from X-Men...
    Fighter-Thief - Vin Diesel's Riddick
    Fighter - Ron Perlman's Hellboy
Monk - I still like David Carradine's 'Kung Fu' character best of all in this genre... so not current, but what the hey
Cleric - hmm... this surprisingly not so easy...
Swashbuckler - Mandy Patampkin's Inego Montoya from the Princess Bride

I don't think either of those classes work for Picard, but he'd definitely be Lawful Good. Unlike Kirk or Sisko, Picard was less a warrior and more likely to follow SF orders. First and formost Picard is a scientist, he wants to find out how things work, unlock the mysteries of the universe, with that in mind I would see him more as a mage. I could also see him as a bard... hear me out with this. I don't mean in the singing and lute playing but with his charisma. He is the face of the Federation being the captain of Star Fleet's flagship, this allows him to make first contact with new civilisations and as such and a good bard makes a good ambassador with their charisma scores.

Spock is also most assuredly Lawful Good, or at least Lawful Neutral with good tendencies.

    P.S.
Sign me up to any religion that has Hawkeye Pierce as a Cleric.

Spock is more Lawful Neutral, I think. It's about extreme adherence to logic. Logic is always correct and therefore must be followed. There's kind of a tacit understanding that Lawful Neutral is supremely diciplined.

...We are all a bunch of nerds, you guys. :)

Maybe I could do a Breaking Bad themed party. Dunno what the classes would be, though. Alignments would be the fun part.

Did a no reload challenge once with celebrities from shows I used to watch as a kid.

Chuck Norris - Ranger (pretty darn obvious)
David Hasselhoff - Cleric (he *did* save lives)
Tom Selleck - Fighter (I can't see him as anything else really)
Richard Dean Anderson - Bard (Jack of all trades)

    Fun times :')

(David Hasselhoff's avatar had an epic smile. Every time he leveled up or killed something, it became bigger XD )

I mean, games in general are pretty nerdy, but when we start having intelligent discussions about the alignments of various members of Star Fleet?

Yeah, that's next level geekery right there. (And I love it.)

    Inigo Montoya is required

Herm, after that it becomes a little more questionable.

I think Dave Chappel as Ahchoo
    Viggo Mortenson Aragorn

Ok that covers the front line methinks.

    Now for the back. Herm.

Actually one last one who can double on front line or back line (yay double roles)

Cary Elwes as Robin Hood (Men in Tights) and Westley (Princess Bride)

Now to be crucified by my fellow geeks on these hallowed forums. For my wizard I am going to eschew Both Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Alan Rickman (Snape) and instead choose Maggie Smith as my wizard.

Actually ya know what, I think our good friend Gandalf might end up being my choice of "Cleric" as other than him all I can think of are Galadriel and Elrond. Kinda a shame really.

He is not only his own class, he is his own class kit!

    Texas Ranger.

It is the THACO and HP of a Barbarian, weapon proficiencies of a Fighter, skills of a Thief, immunities of a Monk, and has a +10 bonus to all Total Gym sales checks.

There really aren't a lot of high fantasy films or series with magics and all, so...

Tyrion, "The Imp" from Game of Thrones as Party's Face and speaker.
That Wizard from Legend of the Seeker (Which was actually a pretty bad series - but god damn, he is a wonderful actor and the best character in the show.)
Conan the Barbarian (Old Arnold Conan rather than this new Stargåte man with dreadlocks.)
That Barbarian Lass (Lux?) from the Dungeons & Dragons 2 movie.

That's four out of five.. now, it's a bit hard to find a Cleric (unless we go back into the Dungeons & Dragons 2 movie), so lets take an out of combat healer, and warrior from LOTR - Elrond.

Now, since we've managed to avoid using the same show/movie twice here, and stayed in the theme of every character coming from a fantasy setting, lets take the last as a wild draw and pick - Natalie Portman's character - Isabel from "Your Highness".

    In the end we have:
Tyrion - Diplomat (Bard without musical or magical prowess? And one mean shield bashing trait!)
    Zeddicus - Mage
    Conan - Barbarian? Fighter? Mix.
    Lux - Barbarian
Elrond - Cleric/Druid without high fantasy magic and with awesome fighting skills.
    Isabel - Thief? Archer? Both.
