Thank you Beamdog writers for Dynaheir's better grammar

Whelp, I've barely started the beginning of Siege of Dragonspear with Dynaheir, but so far, she hasn't made any grammatical errors with her pronouns and verbs in her Elizabethan English in her new lines.

I just wanted to say a thanks to whichever writer made the effort to have Dynaheir use correct grammar, which she should. Almost every line in her original lines was grammatically incorrect, and the constant errors made me cringe.

The one thing is that I wish her selection sound "Thy called" had been rewritten and revoiced while you had the actress on hand. Every time she says that, I cringe and think, "My *what* called, and what thing of mine do you think called me? I was calling for THEE." (What she means is "Thou hast called?, probably with the "e" in the "-ed" pronounced aloud in "call-ed", as two syllables.)

Anyway, thanks for making some effort to get that right. And I'm really enjoying hearing all the old voice actors again with all their new lines.

Well at least you can tell her about the improper use of English when you meet her

Fixing her "ye olde english" is great. I noticed the old Dyneheir had the grammar all wrong too. Good work, Amber Scott.

@bengoshi , @mlnevese , @any moderator, If this thread even begins to turn into another flame war, with even another single negative post, please close it.

I just wanted to express that I think "ye olde english" should be used correctly if it's going to be used, and I always appreciate the effort to do so.

No, I don't think Dynaheir's original bad grammar was intentional. I think the original writers used "Ye olde butcherede English", and didn't know any better, as so many writers don't.

But if people want to argue about it, much less start insulting current writers, then I shouldn't have even brought it up. You know what, just close the thread, please. I don't want to worry about it, and the last thing this forum needs is another flame war.

joluv's post is a clever spoof, but the teaching of grammar is a hot political issue, at least in the UK.

Yeah, it seems like people there are pretty fired up about it.

If Dynaheir can serve as an educational tool for better grammar amongst all English-speaking people, then good.

It's what she would've wanted, as a legacy, y'know, before the whole BG2 thing...

No worries! We're all victims of Poe's Law sometimes. I probably should have heeded my doubt and thrown a winky face into that post.

So, having read this thread, I went off and rescued Dynaheir to enjoy her proper 'better grammar'. Her first line: 'Thy called?' killed me. It should be 'Thou called?'. 'Thou' is 'You', 'Thy' is 'Yours'. For goodness sake, even wikipedia got this right, and you even didn't check that.

My spirit is shattered, and I may just restart the game with a different party, and hopefully wait for a patch.

Oh yes, so it's been brought up already - but there's more mistakes of this sort ('Thy wish my ear?'). It looks like whoever came up with this simply replaced 'You' with 'Thy' and left it that, disregarding 'Thou', 'Thee' and proper endings to verbs.

Can't do anything about this now, I suppose.

@Audaces , the improvements I was referring to were what I noticed in her written dialogues. Unfortunately, none of her old gratingly incorrect selection sounds have been corrected. Perhaps they couldn't change those because of the licensing agreement.

It just sickens me that Amber Scott has so little reverence for the original games that she thinks Dynaheir's vocabulary needs an upgrade.

    10/troll

@BelgarathMTH Why don't you just put a feature request for that? maybe it will be heard.
