Civilian dress code

Hi guys

Have you considered, when entering Baldurs Gate, to adopt a dress code that is appropriate for a civilized and (supposedly) well guarded, safe city?

Such a dress code could imply:
No armour greater than leather (use Barkskin and shield amulets for unexpected situations).
No weapons larger than daggers (or perhaps short swords? Lighter swords *were* used, for decorative purposes, back in times).
Druids, Mages and rangers could be allowed to wield quarterstaffs, as that seems appropriate for them.

Now, with appearances kept appropriately high, as no one will be looking through your spell book (or your brain.. hopefully... (you did finish off Neera's nemesis' - right..?)), do feel free to memorize all the most nasty spells from your spell book. Fireball seems wildly inappropriate for a city setting, but who can see if you've got such a thing on your mind..? no one! muahahhaa!

Sounds like a good for the city guard to get their collective asses kicked...

Psh, no. I'll just go around shouting "I serve the Flaming Fist!" and let others get out of my way.

If you start seizing the weapons and armor of every noble guardsmen, freeman/woman, adventurer, mercenary, thief, etc. ...it generally means blood sooner rather than later.

In Baldur's Gate a commoner's clothings would be more than enough. Simply unequip all armors, shields and two handed weapons and you're right at home with its native dressing code. If we were talking about Mirabar and Waterdeep on the other hand, then nothing short of exquisite silk cloth would work. They're cities ruled by snobs like this. At least Balduran back in his days was a humble, weathered seafarer. Before he was slain by savage elves in Anchorome, I mean.

A shame there are no fedoras in the game though. Best hats ever.

Actually, my current ranger only wears leathers with daggers, and a cowl, so she's not too obvious. Dorn and Viconia however...
