Next up: Walking door to door. 'Excuse me, sir! Sir? Excuse me! Is is possible that you might happened to leave a full plate armor out in the field? Because in that case I have great news!'
That would be a bit too much for me. I barely take advantage of going door to door as an evil thief, let alone a trying-to-be-good blackguard under the tutelage of 4 paladins helping her to control, understand and eventually expunge the unknown taint inside of her.
I haven't been tithing, either, as I'm not truly disciplined enough for it, or inclined towards such a thing. Besides, I was told to quit math as a high schooler.
Instead I just do this.
A paladin does not work for wealth, so they say. 1000+900+1245. 1000 for the harm Brage brought to Nashkell (for it was they he wronged, not us), 900 for the economic disruption in the iron trade by Mulahey's goons, and 1245--or everything I had left--for the ankheg plate, because I suppose that a mining town like Nashkell has a fair claim to all wealth found in their earth.
I've been giving away quest rewards instead of tithing. Oh boy... donating the 5000 for Bassilus was a hard one. I least I got Ashideena, which I think might actually be the best one-handed weapon in the game alongside Varscona.
But ya, money goes to those who were harmed. Party gets battlefield salvage. Not true paladin ethos, I suppose, but my own approximation. And you know what, it's quite fun being poor. I'm usually a compulsive thief in these games and so always flush with gold, but without that financial cushion to fall back on things feel a bit more urgent, resources more precious. There are perks to being broke.
Also, I was truly tempted to let some bandits rob me and see their faces when I handed them 7 gold pieces, but a true paladin wouldn't have let crime win so we spanked them instead.
We have completed the Cloakwood Mines and killed Davaeorn. Nothing all that exciting to report otherwise. My cavalier is so powerful he has steamrolled the game up to this point. I still have my no-reload status, but I still haven't done any of the fights that usually end it, such as the Ducal Palace.
One interesting thing that my new playstyle of "no hoarding" is showing me that is different - using consumables as they become available is making a lot of hard battles very easy, especially since I know which potions to use and when they'll be helpful. Same with magic arrows for my archers. Also, having three well-built and well-equipped archers is a really good thing. Drasus and Davaeorn didn't stand a chance, especially with Dynaheir's super Web and me with Spider's Bane.
Also, I am loving, loving, loving that Beamdog has given a much needed nerf to the Lightning Bolt spell, taking away the ridiculous game-breaking bouncing mechanic that made it a game-ender and often suicide for enemies and useless to the player.
Reloads: 0 (Will this be my first ever successful no-reload in BG1? I doubt it, but stay tuned.)

This has also been the case for me. The game drops several potions of magic blocking and magic shielding in your lap in the run up to the bandit camp and Davaeorn's mine. I always hoarded them, but in my quest to keep my inventories as empty as possible (buying only what we need during re-supply and donating quest rewards), I've been drinking a lot of these potions on the fly. I managed to blitzkrieg Davaeorn in drop him in a few rounds, losing only one party member during the fight.
Sadly, mine is not a no-reload. Still died to a wolf outside Candlekeep while lvl1.
Good luck with your paladin run, @BelgarathMTH. If you plan to keep to the paladin code things get a bit... creative, with scar and duke eltan and investigating the iron throne covertly. Some of the discussions leave no option but to be mercenary in attitude.
You know, it just occurred to me that another reason it's a great time to be playing and discussing paladins is that the current storyline in Order of the Stick is about two paladins.
