Messages disappear too fast

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Yeah, I'm slow, and half the time a little buzzed. When messages appear at the top of the screen, like after this girl teaches you how to goblin hunt, they disappear before I can read the whole thing. Any why to slow them down for the mentally challenged?

    Those message boxes at the top are your journal entries. You can always press J and read them at your leisure, even after the quest is over-with.

    I'm glad I'm not the only person in the world who noticed this and was slightly bothered by it. ;)

    @mlnevese 's solution will work around the problem, though. I'm not sure why I never thought of that before now.

    Unfortunately I don't see any options in the GUI or the baldur.lua file to make these last longer.

    It often is difficult matching the message you half saw flash up there in the journal.

    To put it lightly, the journal still needs some work.
