osx crashes on first autosave

Recently re-installed this gem, looks like there have been several updates since i last played, also i have since upgraded to El Capitan. The game crashes 100% of the time right after Imoen lets you out of your cage and about the time the game does its first autosave (or quicksave).

Curiously i also installed it on my macbook pro, also running El Capitan and the same thing is happening?!?

Anyone else having this issue/ is this reported anywhere?
