Game crashes when I select gender

Ok, I decided to use my old laptop to test something. When I want to create a new character in BG2, I get a crash. I have no mods installed. It's a clean install. Any idea why? Here is the crash report. Not sure how to use / open it. I guess it may have something to do with portraits, but.... why?

It's a Toshiba laptop, Vista Home Premium (32), Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4200, 2.00 GHz / 2.00 GHz,
2.00 GB ram, Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family

I know it's old etc, but as far as I remember I sued 1.3 version of the game, but the most recent one it's impossible to run the game. At least I found no way to run it...
