These are fantastic, I especially like Irenicus, he's spot on & Jan Jansen made me laugh, he's perfect.

Now that's a believable Jaheira! Nice improvement on her face in particular, you captured her character now.

May I suggest, something I played around with, give Khalid the same background or slightly off, like he's on the other side of the road. It makes Jaheira & Khalid a couple. Same with Minsc & Dynaheir, and Montaron & Xzar

    Yes, that's a great idea

Hmm. Not sure I like the yellow pants under the leather pants. Almost looks like skin, which is kinda scary.
Daisy looks good. Really like the armour.

I must work a little more on the clothing, and maybe get rid of the skirt

@killraven I love lady orc's clothing and pose but I second the pants thing. Perhaps a darker shade or a different colour altogether. The skirt is nice though. If it were up to me, I'd keep it. :) Daisy is looking great too. Awesome pair! :D

I have no problem with the skirt. It's just that the yellow is too close to her green skin colour and I don't want to be thinking I may be getting a peek up her skirt. *shudder*

Ahahah! Now that You tell me, I see and I cannot look at her anymore!
    MUST re-render! ;-)

You should combine the pictures to have one of the two of them together. They are a kickass Battle Couple after all.

"So, tell me ... how is that the witch ended up strained in the Gnoll stronghold and her most loyal bodyguard managed to escape ... without a scratch?"
"Well, believe it or not... it has to do with a hamster... and when a hamster's got to eat, he's got to eat"

Yeah, I will do that: for now, I will just go ahead and finish off all portraits/posters and then I will go back and do all the adjustments, thanks for the feedback

Today I came back too late and tired from work... could not work on anything new, so I re-composed J&K

    @Killraven, great art, as always.

Minsc should look huge next to Dynaheir, and you actually have him looking shorter. I would think he would stand at least an entire foot taller than Dynaheir, and twice as wide.

Why dual Scimitars for Jaheira? Her original concept implied that she prefers wooden and stone weapons - club, staff, sling.

Why a dagger for Minsc in his solo portrait? Of all weapons, that's the last one I would picture Minsc using.

    Still, very good pictures.

    @belgarathmth
I always imaged Dynaheir as sort of tall Tutsi-looking witch

in the game I played I gave Jaheira two scimitars: Fire&Ice, since she's a half fighter half druid I think that club, staff or sling would not allow her to really make good use of her fighter side

The dagger for Minsc in the solo is a joke: he chopped the corn from the tree to feed Boo ;-)

@Killraven, okay, but you would have needed mods to get her enough pips to have two ** in scimitar and ** in dual-wielding, because she comes with **club, *sling, *sword and shield style in the vanilla game (BG2). In BG1, it was **club, *quarterstaff, *sling, iirc.

@Killraven, well, it's all good, but I just envision Minsc as being at least one and maybe two standard deviations bigger and taller than average. Also, there is perhaps a perspective issue in the joint photo.

You seem pretty set on having Dynaheir be so tall that Minsc doesn't look gigantic next to her though, so just ignore me. It's all good.

sorry, I tend to forget how the vanilla game looked like because I changed some of the basic characters: Nalia was one (no thief class, 100% mage)...
but now that the game is back I will refresh my memory!!

Oh, I will start do "variations" when all portraits are addressed, no problem: i will render a large-Minsc one too.
Just think that a few months ago (when I was doing the tests), I made something like an average of 4 versions per each character (including face/skin/hair variations) before posting here... so the final versions are all but frozen

These are kinda neat and a few of them I like but most of them are way off from that the NPC's actually look like. Some of my criticisms:

Aerie - She looks squat and wide, almost like a dwarf's body. The colors are completely off and she can't cast any mage spells in armor (unless that is elven chain which it definitely doesn't look like) so putting her in armor makes her feel that much more unfamiliar. If it didn't say "Aerie" underneath her I never would have guessed who this was supposed to be.

Ajantis - Colors are completely off and the holy symbol around his neck looks nothing like Helms holy symbol. What's with the brown corn row hair cut? Ajantis has blonde hair.

Anomen - Colors are a little more in line with this one but still seem a little on the bright side. Anomen is from Calimshan meaning he has a darker complexion in line with what a person from Suadi Arabia might have, in this pic he is very very pale. Why does the holy symbol of Torm look exactly the same as the holy symbol of Helm? He and Adjantis are sporting the same symbol...

Branwen - Hair style is completely off, hair color is not quite right. Clothing colors are completely wrong and, while the battleaxe is the favored weapon of Tempus, a cleric cannot use a battleaxe in 2nd edition dnd but she seems to be weilding one.

Cernd - Cernd looks terrible. Clothing colors are completely off again and his facial tattoos aren't even close. Why is the skin of his stomach bright red but his face is jaundice yellow? The skin tone of his face makes him look like a mummy or something and the rest of his skin makes him look like a lobster or he's suffered a horrible horrible sun burn. With skin like that Cernd will be dead from skin cancer within the week.

Coran - Colors are all wrong. He looks like a metrosexual Joker without the face paint. Apparently it's cold in the cloakwood so he brought a toque.

Dynaheir - Uh, what? So you must have gotten the idea for the facial jewelery a lip piercing from the portrait... oh wait, the portrait doesn't have any of that... Again, hair and clothing coloring is all wrong. Unrecognizeable as the original NPC.

Edwin - Other than him being a ginger (why the red facial hair? red hair is common amongst the Rashemi, only the most hated people to the Thayvians... good choice for a Red Wizard) and a member of the Dark Maroon Wizards this one isn't as bad as some of the others.

Eldoth - Only his clothing is completely wrong so its a step in the right direction.

Faldorn - Hair and clothing are the wrong colors (this is a theme I think). Why is she dressed so scantily? I thought it was cold in the cloakwood? Coran had to bring a toque afterall! Unrecognizeable as the original NPC.

Garrick - From the coloring and clothes this looks more like Eldoth than it does Garrick but amazingly doesn't look anything like Eldoth!

Haer Dalis - Clothes are totally wrong. Rapiers instead of Shortswords? White hair? Why...?

Human Male 2 - Way Gingerish. Why?

Imoen - Looks nothing like Imoen. Imoen is known for her perdominantly pink wardrobe yet this person (I wont refer to her as Imoen) has barely any. Why is she a midget? It looks like she has tear drop tattoos on her face... has she spent some time in jail? Who did she kill in a gangland style way?

Jaheira - Colors and clothing is off again. Dual Scimitars seems out of place. She looks like a super hero in that outfit.

Kagain - One of the worst. Red hair is supposed to be salt and pepper. Flail is supposed to be an Axe. Red Armor is supposed to be grey/blue. Horned helmet is supposed to be a winged helmet. What is with the silly demon faced shield? If you showed this pic to anyone and asked them to name the character NO ONE WOULD SAY KAGAIN! This is just some dwarf you made and named Kagain. It is not Kagain from Baldur's Gate 1. Not even close.

Keldorn - Colors are totally off, and his hair is way too grey. Why do all of the 'holy' males have the exact same armor, coloring and all?

Khalid - He doesn't have a goatee, why does yours? Do you give him a goatee in your playthroughs? Why does he have a Wakizashi? Those weren't in BG1 and due to his untimely faith I don't think he got to use one for very long in BG2.

Minsc and Boo - Scimitar and Dagger? Two weapons Minsc has no proficiency in? And you choose those for his picture why? His 18/93 Strength really shows through his slight frame in this picture. Did Minsc drop Boo in a vat of bleach? Cause he aint supposed to be white. This is kind of a slap in the face to Minsc fans I think.

Montaron - This is probably my least favorite. Clothing colors are wrong, hair color is wrong (what else is new). He looks way too skinny and what is with that stupid pose? He's a got an "Oh you! Silly taskmaster! Tee hee!" kind of pose going on.Nothing about this picture (including his Wakizashi, what's with all the oriental themed weapons?) says 'viciously menacing little psychopathic murdering halfling.'

Nalia - Doesn't look like Nalia. She looks like generic wizard girl with red hair. If you asked someone to name what character that is no one would say Nalia. If you make the caracters unrecognizeable what's the point of making them at all, if the point was to model the NPC's from the BG series?

Quayle - Doesn't look like Quayle. You could copy and paste this caption for just about every pic and replace "Quayle" with the name of the NPC that is aledgedly being depicted.

Safana - You seem to love giving people red hair when they're not supposed to but now that we get to a character who has red hair you make it black?! What?! Clothes are wrong... this doesn't look like Safana.

Sarevok - Replace the longsword with a greatsword and the gold armor with black armor and it would be passable as Sarevok.

Shar-Teel - Blue face paint equals brownish red body tattoos? Yeah, why not.

Skie - Here's yet another example of givng people who don't have red hair, red hair! Why? If Skie has to have red hair why does Safana have to have black hair? Had you actually seen the portraits for these character before you did these?

Tiax - Not even close... like really.

    Valygar - Colors are wrong.

Viconia - This isn't Viconia. This is a blue skinned Rita Repulsa from power rangers. She should have a speech bubble that says "MAKE MY MONSTER GROW!"

Xzar - Why doesn he look like an Emo kid that just saw Jared Leto or some other innane emo rocker? This doesn't scream insane necromancer is screams card carrying member at Hot Topic.

Yoshimo - Colors are off... he looks like a Mongolian with a learning disability.

Sorry if this came off as incredibly harsh but most of these pics really rubbed me the wrong way. Feel free to disregard everything I said but those are my honest opinions of the pics. It just seemed like an utter waste of time to make these if you weren't going to stay true enough to the original art to make it near impossible to even recognize the characters.

    Since assertion is underdiscussion do
    Load Aerie
    Remove gown
    Add bikini bottom
    Remove armor
    Add bikini top
    Render
    Post PIC!
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/mario_roma/8185412759/in/photostream
    End

Hilarious! I will never see Aerie in the same light again!

Sicky. Too anorexic. Needs extra meat.
