hi all,
It has been a very long time since i've played this. I just downloaded the update and started a new game, and it seems like the journal tab isn't getting any entries added? Not the quest tab btw, that works. Is this a know issue? Its kind of game breaking for me..

Try to open the journal, you will get the list of the quests. than click the arrow at the left of a quest, it expand. But only to show one or multiple times the name of that quest. And that had fooled me and probably fools you. All what you have to do is to click on one of the names of the quest that have appeared and it expands showing the full text of the note.
I hope that I am enough clear as I am not a native English speaker.
As I remember it that section got general updates that weren't specifically related to any quests. I am sure I've seen it update in the battle log, but nothing shows up on the tab in the journal. It's a good reminder of what you are doing, especially when you don't play it for a week or two and come back to it.
I am new to EE so I am not sure, but in my game it got only few "automatic" updates in chap 2, all related to new NPC quest, Hexat and Neera, and the things that I have manually written in it, or copied using the in game coping function, that shows when you read plot related letters that you find and in similar situations.
I would say that when in my not english version I read something like "the jpornal has been updated" in the combat log is the left tab, the one with the quests, that gets updated, out of that very few new NPCs related notes that I got in the right tab. Also the whole function in my game has the same name, that appears both in the button of the main screen that opens the journal.
So you have a journal that is split in 2 tabs, missions and journal, and the message in the log refers to everything added to the whole function, doesn't matter if in the right or left tab of it.
Or at least this is my guessing after few hours of EE, that I started to use in the present version.

I did not read all the topic, but in the OP post the issue that you talk about is mentioned.
Just discovered it now.
There is a scene where you walk into a room with a bunch of tanks. These tanks have half dead or dead creatures in them. It's just after the room with the djinn guy who asks you the question about pressing the button. Anyway Imoen talks about wanting to get out or something, and the journal updates with an entry that says something about you're relation to bhaal. I paused the game to catch it before it disappeared, clicked on it and it opened the journal side (not the quest side) of the journal. There was no entry in there, and no way to copy and paste it in.
The game isn't recording the journal updates, and that's really annoying to me. Half the enjoyment for me is reading all the story and law stuff. Again, not sure if this is a know issue or it's a problem on my end.
Is anyone else seeing this?
I installed the old standard edition just to test it out and yes, all the journal entries are missing from the enhanced edition. Does anyone here know if this is a known problem that is being worked on? I cant find anything anywhere else.
- TPU doesn't occur for some entries (this is more an engine issue)
- ..... BUT, TPU status 'Journal Updated' is sometimes misleading if any of the previous two issues occur "

I think that this is where your issue is mentioned. As I told you find it in the OP post, even if, at now, the tread is focusing on other things (also because with engine issues players can't help much, while their opinion and suggestions on the GUI can be much more useful.
I rolled back to 1.3 and started again, seems like there are a few people doing the same. I really don't mind the changes in 2.0 but the journal is a deal breaker for me personally.
@TrentOster , the CEO of Beamgog, admitted it in his (very informative imo) first post in the tread "what is happening to Beamdog" and declared that in the future they will be more careful in dealing with less projects, but releasing them only when they are finished/working properly. So we have a good hope that in the future similar things will happen less frequently, never is impossible when releasing software.
OT: I found very informative and really appreciated that post of Trent because I found it objective and realistic, while other posts by Beamdog staff in that tread was sounding to my ears like "everything is GREAT, no problems at all, we will continue to release fantastic things as we have always done".
The things that everyone, who is not a troll who partecipate only for a personal anti Beamdog agenda, hope to hear, but that hide the problems, and are not useful for who cares about Beamdog and its future, but really try to understand and have a realistic point of view on what is going on.
So I REALLY THANK YOU TRENT FOR YOUR POST!
Edit: wants changed to hope.
