BWOOSH not working - cannot place

In the caverns, I got to the place where the message came "Drop Bwoosh here".

There is a marker that swirls in the area.

But I cannot neither drop the barrel there (no response) nor interact with the ground nearby (like some posts suggest -- no 'question mark').

What is happening?

    Oh dear, I fear I overwrote it. (Moved past that point already without resolving it. Not game breaking, just frustrating.)

    I think the expected behavior should be that when I approach the "twirly spot" for the Bwoosh either an automatic action should happen OR the twirly spot should become an interactable object, neither of which happened.
