BG doesn't work on Sierra

I try to launch the app to play and get this message:

It looks like you are unable to write to the current location. Please
copy the game to your Applications Directory, or some other writeable
location.
---------------

Anyone else have this problem? I've tried moving the app to my home folder, and still get the same message. Any ideas on how to solve this?

Should have mentioned... I am not running this off of the disk image. It is in the Applications folder.

It's Gatekeeper Path Randomization. Gatekeeper forces "untrusted" apps to run from a read-only virtual drive.

You can temporarily bypass Gatekeeper by following these instructions from OSXDaily:

Please be careful to reenable Gatekeeper after you're done.
