Quest 'The Reclusive Scholar' bugged

Hey guys I have gotten to the end of the game and could go to finish it at Baldur's Gate but I am trying to complete most of the side quests. Werewolf Island is one of my favorite parts of the game. I would like to be able to go there, I have gotten the Sea Charts and turned them in. I go to talk to Mendas at the dock in Ulgoth's Beard and set sail to the island. When I get to the island all my characters and automatically killed. Is anyone else having this issue? Anyone that knows a way to fix this? I've tried rebooting and restarting the quest 8 times and still auto-deaths me the instant I am at the island.

That's really weird. The only thing I can think of is

the quest where Marek and Lothander poison you. They meet you on the same map where you get the sea charts and you may have triggered the poisoning. I thought the poison timer actually started when you meet Lothander by the circus tents, but maybe it starts when you first meet the two of them. You have 10 days to cure the poison, or you die. Apologies if you already know about this quest and/or have already solved it, but it came to mind as a possible explanation for your characters' deaths.

I think you have been poisened by Marek in Baldurs Gate city, earlier in the game.
