I mean, the only difference between them IS *what* they are. The Shadow Thieves, according to lore, are basically a more circumspect version of the mafia. Vampires in AD&D2 were chaotic evil. It's really a decision that leaves it up to the player to decide, "Which is the lesser evil?". My point is, there's not much difference between them in the way that they do business and seek to control the underworld of Athkatla.

Or it could just be that the writers got a little lazy and didn't expect anyone to notice because both Aran and Bodhi talk that way, being the shifty, intelligent people that they are.
