Recruiting Garrick Siege of Dragonspear

I'm going to be running a LoB difficulty playthrough, and given the need for a solid, undispellable protection from fear, I'm pretty sure I actually HAVE to have Garrick in the party for Beliphat.

Does anyone know what the requisites are to recruit him? I wasn't able to get him in my first playthrough of SoD.

Can't be done. He is not a recruitable character in SOD. You could try enabling the cheat console and force him (CTRL+J) into the party and see what happens. I haven't tried this myself.

Just a correction , the force join command is ctrl+Q.

Why'd you want to have a bard in your BG party at all? :P

When you have a party full of backstabbing evil-doers, keeping a low profile is much prefered. B)

Where's your charismatic jackass to round things out and convince everyone you're an okay guy, guy?

The skald they have is right good, course the vanilla skald does not help with fear til 15th lvl I think but still, take it down faster and less chance of fear (I suppose).

Not sure why you can't get Garrick. Does anyone have any good ideas for a protection from fear for Beliphat on insane? You get auto-dispelled at the start of combat and the fear abilities they use are crazy, not magical I guess? potions didn't seem to work.

    Play a bard yourself.

Play a Cavalier, they're immune to Fear.

Equip the Commander's Chainmail. It makes the user immune to fear as well as allies in a 30 feet radius. Clerics can equip it if they need to cast Remove Fear themselves in a hurry.

    There are options.

I'm a true neutral druid. I've got something worked out so long as all my gear carries over from BG... Tiax has a protect from fear/morale loss helm on him which I can use to keep him sane, then use remove fear on party.

Yeah, it'd be good if we were able to recruit Garrick, Coran and Tiax somehow when we approach them (as alternatives to Voghiln, Safana and Glint perhaps) but I don't think it's going to happen without modding :(

Yeah it's unfortunate, I'm a bit at a loss for how to handle Beliphat without them. I know they've changed the difficulties a bit but my last playthrough on LoB difficulty (when it was bugged, so it was just "insane" or something) he was an absolute menace.

The commander's chain mail (easy-to-get item from the Coalition Camp) was designed to help with the Beliphat encounter, so just use that and go with whatever party you like best.

Yeah i just saw the stats on that, that should make the encounter a cinch.

    Beliphat

Bellyfat? That's hilarious! That's what I'm going to call Belhifet from now on.

Phonetics are the same tbh. Yeah I think they changed how that fight starts anyway, just blazed through it on my Assassin
