Just realized how much "Neera" sounds like "Neira".

Oh man, is Neera gonna be available early game, because if she, I will probably want to put her in my party, and then it is going to make a certain encounter in Nashkel ten times more awkward.

    For me, they look more similar than they sound:

    Neera = NEEra
    Neira = NAYra

    I think Neira has a little more emphasis on the "E" sound.

    I pronounce Neira to rhyme with Jaheira.

    So it comes out as "Nah-HEE-rah".

    That's proper linguistics, isn't it?

    No thats just totally wrong lol.

    Neira would only rhyme with the 'heira' part of Jaheira.

    In german, you pronounce any "ie" or "ei" vowel combination as though it were simply the second letter as you say that letter in english. So "ie" is "E" and "ei" is "I".

    The total reverse is true in English.

    And people wonder why it's so difficult to pick up as a second language. We bastardized even the languages that spawned it!

    *googles Neira*

    New England Interscholastic Rowing Association... Derp...
    I can't really remember - who the heck is Neira? XD

    But as far as I am concerned, it's pronounced NEE-Rah. Like... you know, the knights who say ni? :p

    It's been a long time since I've played BG1, but I think Neira is the female assassin that tries to kill you inside the tavern in Nashkel. I remember she was pretty difficult to defeat in the early game.

    "ten times more awkward."

    Was it awkward before?

    I guess outright murdering a lady, less than a minute after meeting her in a tavern, is kinda awkward.
