Bards do not cast spells like sorcerers in IWD. Spontaneous casting for bards was added in IWD2, which is based on 3E rules.

The sorcerer casting mechanic cannot be modded into the bard class (or any other class). You could try to create a bard-like sorcerer kit, but that's probably as close as you'd get.

i THINK someone created a mod... eldritch magic maybe? It's a sorcerer who gets UAI, therefore allowing you to use every weapon and most items thereafter. ALTHOUGH it's not the same because you're thac0 progression isn't rogue, it's mage... but I think that's the closest i've seen to what you're asking
