Wish spell - is it affected by wisdom higher than 18?

Title says it all: Does wisdom over 18 have any effect on the options available from the Wish (or Limited Wish) spells? There's a ton on info on the whole wish/wisdom mystery out there, but not this particular bit.

Erm ... yes. IIRC, WIS=18 is the minimum to guarantee at least one desirable Wish option, and WIS>18 increases the probability of being offered more than one desirable Wish option.

For Limited Wish, however, I don't think WIS>18 makes any difference.

To my knowledge:
(A) Nobody who has access to the code has ever confirmed or denied whether Wisdom higher than 18 impacts Wish results, so nobody knows for sure.
(B) Rigorous looks at Wish results with varying WIS levels suggest that there's no benefit to Wisdom beyond 18. If there *is* an effect, it must be very small to have avoided easy detection to this point. (See, for example, the recorded results in this thread.)

Unless and until someone checks the actual code, we can't know for sure. But at this point I would say shoot for 18 and don't worry about going over.

so I looked at the dialogue that is spoken with the djinni when you cast wish, and there are 4 wis checks it makes:

- greater than 17
- greater than 14, less than 18
- greater than 9, less than 15
- less than 10

and for each wis check it goes to a "SetupWish" table, although I don't know whats on those tables, it seems to me that if your wisdom hits 18, then anything higher has no effect

EDIT: and for limited wish, it looks like 17 is the highest you need your WIS to be, to be able to get all the options
