Wraiths are weaker than Shadow Fiends because they do non-lethal damage and do not paralyze, yet are cast at higher levels instead of my very missed fiends. What else are they capable of besides everything that fiends can do as well such as negative energy rays, etc...
Fantastic mod! I was looking for some fcuking bunny when I met the first shadow magic apprentice. Party lvl 2 - Barbarian protagonist, Gavin, Ajantis, Tiax - decimated. I love it!! Great spells, good scripts, nice casting, spell effects - amazing. Reloaded just to die again. What a pleasure just to watch this shadow dude do his shadow stuff. One of the best BG1 mods ever imo.
The City of Shades quest/stronghold component is progressing, albeit slowly. Additionally, the component will include two new party members who are, naturally, shadow adepts. This means even a non-shadow adept Bhaalspawn will have a chance to include some Shadow Weave magic in their parties.
Ophelia's Knave Robe (+2 AC vs. slashing, +2 save vs. death)
Ophelia's Signet Ring (+2 AC, +2 saving throws, +1 spell cast per level, Charm Spectral Undead once per day, unremovable)
Biography: When asked about her past, OPHELIA smiles wryly, musing quietly as to whether it would be more interesting to tell truth or fiction. Born to Shadovar nobility, Ophelia is the sole living daughter of Dolon Tanthul, a powerful archmage of Thultanthar's oldest noble house and the leader of the Reyn'Tanthul branch family. Ophelia was born with latent magical talent, and her parents – both accomplished mages in their own regard – were harsh trainers during her youth, hoping to raise her to become a worthy successor of the Reyn'Tanthul name. Despite her prestigious status, however, Ophelia held little interest for power or wealth, preferring to study magic and interact with the people of the Shade Enclave. When her uncle, Kryn'nath "Darkflame" Talaryn, took note of a younger Ophelia's potential and offered her tutelage at the Phantasmal Tower, she eagerly accepted. Ophelia stands out among her peers with her affable and optimistic nature, and is curious towards both the Weave and the Prime Material Plane.
Full Name: Kerahn A'Kai (adopted name) Race: Human Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Class: Thief / Shadow Adept STR: 15 DEX: 16 CON: 15 INT: 17 WIS: 11 CHA: 11 Special Items:
Dark Enforcer +2 (crossbow, 10% per hit to cast Shadowfade on wielder, Drain Vitality on critical hits, Shadow Adepts wield as though specialized)
Shadovar Armor (AC 5, +10% Hide in Shadows, spellcasting is not disabled)
Biography: When asked about his past, KERAHN becomes noticeably hesitant, as though the act of remembering is painful to him. With a slight hint of shame, he briefly remarks on his childhood as a street urchin in the cruel and decadent alleys of Thultanthar, where each day of life was not granted, but earned through one's wits and willingness to do anything to survive. Clearly unwilling to dwell upon his early memories, Kerahn coldly declares that he has left that part of his life behind him, and now willingly serves archmage Kryn Darkflame, to whom he is both right-hand servant and apprentice. Whatever reasons Kerahn has for such loyalty, however, you do not know–and neither does he appear eager to divulge that knowledge to you.
@Artemius_I, the Thief/Shadow Adept NPC doe not have the stats to be a dual class. Just wanted to point it out.
Do we know if it's BG 1 or BG 2 content? If it's 1, I'd assume he has that as a multi-class rather than dual class (despite him being human). If it's BG 2, it's hard to say which it is.
Also - Just the other day, I finally got to Mak'Kai. Holy crap. That encounter is insanely challenging, given that you cannot save against the "Night Terrors" secondary ability, and no one has 8 hit dice by that point.
I didnt have death ward readied, either. I had to cheese it by giving Viconia a ton of potions to immunize her from a majority of his abilities and tank his magic. Phew. Glad that's overwith.
Added chapter-based dialogue to familiars in BG1 (and fixed for EET)
Cleaned up several scripts
Improved a few spell icons
Wrote a new biography for the Shadow Disciple
NEW SHADOW DISCIPLE BIO: Born during a moonless, starless night, you were bestowed with the power of the Shadow Weave, a dark imitation of Mystra's Art created by Shar, the Nightsinger. Though you know not why you were granted it, your power has earned you the scrutiny of Candlekeep's scholars and mages–and the discomfort of many others–for as long as you can remember. At an early age, your guardians attempted to instigate the teaching of the Weave into you, hoping to divert you from using magic you were born with. Despite this, however, you have continued to nurture the spark of darkness within you, taking advantage of your natural talent and the tutelage of Gorion and your other tutors to become a capable practitioner of the Shadow Art.
The two new NPCs will be for BG2 and are involved with the Shade Enclave questline. Kerahn is a dual-classed Thief 9/Shadow Adept, and I know his Charisma is illegal, but it's not exactly anything new by BG2NPC standards. It's necessary to keep his overall stats balanced.
Edit: actually Kerahn’s stats are technically legal. The only way to become a Thief->SA dual-class is using the Shadow Orb since you cannot dual into a kit, and the Orb only checks for the base SA requirements (12 CON, 9 INT, 9 CHA).
Previewing a couple of banters to show off their personalities a little:
Kerahn: You seem pleased, Ophelia. Ophelia: Should I not be? This plane is an endless bounty of wonders. It's more a shock to me that you treat it all so ambivalently. Kerahn: Perhaps you have forgotten that this is hardly my first excursion in the Prime. My sense of awe has diminished long ago. Ophelia: Mine will not, I wager. So colorful, so noisy, so... different. It's almost like a dream come to life. Kerahn: If that is your expectation, perhaps you should prepare yourself for disappointment. When you look below the surface, the worst of this plane is not so different from ours. Ophelia: Oh, you're far too pessimistic, Kerahn. When you stop to appreciate where the beauty lies, you learn to accept the flaws that come along with it. Nothing's perfect, after all.
Aerie: How can anyone stand living in a place like this? This entire plane is always so dark... and cold... even the sky is like a ceiling. Ooh... I feel as though I'm being crushed, just by being here. Ophelia: It's not so hard to get used to, dear. Then again, I suppose I never knew any different. Aerie: That's true, I suppose. When you find yourself in a world where everything's so different, it can be overwhelming... what was it like when you saw the Prime for the first time? Ophelia: Oh, I was excited, of course. Entranced by the beauty and vibrance of the color of everything... and a little sad, I suppose, when I looked back at my home afterwards. Aerie: Oh... I'm sorry. Ophelia: Don't be, Aerie. I love my home just as I'm sure you love your own. After all, it's because our worlds are so different that I can appreciate yours. I just hope you can see the beauty of mine in return. Aerie: I'll... I'll do my best.
Yoshimo: Kerahn, my fellow rogue. You do not speak much, do you? You keep your silence as closely as a merchant keeps his treasure. Do you never crave the joy of conversation? Kerahn: I speak only when it is necessary, as any sensible rogue ought to. Yoshimo: A wise policy, but it certainly makes for a rather boring companion, no? Kerahn: Those of our profession can hardly place our amusement over the importance of survival. Yoshimo: And to that I say, survival is but the first step towards truly living. Come now, surely you can afford to show just a little bit of camaraderie? Kerahn: It is a wonder you have survived for so long. Yoshimo: Heh. Call it a fool's luck, if you will. Where I lack in sense, I make up for in daring.
They’re... pleasant enough, but not exactly altruistic either. Mostly they join because the PC’s helping them, and when they follow into the Prime they have self-serving but non-malicious interests. They also have rather different standards of what’s acceptable. For example, they don’t have an issue with slavery (though Ophelia is mildly appalled at just how badly slaves in Amn are treated). They also have no reputation breaking point.
All nice changes, especially the penalties tapping into the SW in daylight. I like the resistances better this way myself, a sort of CHR based pleading "Mother (Shar), fold your dark arms about me and protect me with your black embrace" kinda thing.
Alright - came across a bug with the spell "Blackfire Fury". When the caster chooses the spell and learns it, it keeps rewriting itself over (indefinitely) to the spell book.

[EDIT] Never mind. This is some sort of confliction with another module and text conflict within the chitin.key file.
Thank you!
@UOLegacy
Ahh. The wraiths use the WRAITH1.itm weapon which is in BG1 and BG2. It is not in IWD however, are you playing that game?
[EDIT] I decided to extract the WRAITH1.itm file you mentioned from BG2 and place it into the IWD override. I'll get around to trying it out tonight.
It now works quite effectively with a very negligible nuance.
