That's wrong. They still cannot dual-class without mods. They've always been a fighter kit mechanically that deliberately had dual-classing disabled.

Pretty sure it depends on game version, i'm on 2.3.67.3. I do have tweaks anthology loaded with various dual class related options used, so i dunno, maybe it doesn't in an unmodded game, i can't really say w/o doing a fresh install which i'd rather not do lol
This component will allow Barbarians and Wild Mages to dual-class to other classes. Barbarians will have the same dual-class options (cleric, druid, mage, and thief) with the same requirement (15 strength) as fighters. Wild Mages will have the same dual-class options (cleric, fighter, and thief) with the same requirement (15 intelligence) as regular mages.
I'd just like to point out that there are a lot of AD&D dual-classing options that BG doesn't allow.

Barbarian is now a fighter kit.
I will test to see if I can dual
I'm very familiar with the rules for AD&D 2e dual classing and my human barbarian with an 18 STR and 18 DEX can not dual class into thief.
Yeah that's why.
