Selling stolen items in BG1

Obviously there is the thieves guild, but I was wondering where you can sell stolen goods before that point in BG1. The merchants I'm aware of won't accept fenced goods. I've got two +1 large shields I "acquired" in Nashkel and I'm looking to get rid of them :)

Supposedly (from what I've read online) you can sell to one of the halflings in Gullykin (the cleric I guess) but I have not confirmed this. Does anyone know of places where you can sell stolen goods?

    The issue isn't for items you steal from chests. Its items stolen from merchant inventories. I've tried that smithy btw and no luck. I can actually sell items I pickpocket from randoms as well, its just merchant inventories that you can't sell easily.

    What about the Thieves' Guild? Black Lily was corrected in some fixpack if I remember correctly.

    @ankheg
    The question was about selling stolen stuff BEFORE you get to the city.

    Right, my mistake.

    It was always a nice irony that Black Lily will refuse to buy stolen goods. Mind you it is one of the things that I am hoping will be fixed in BG:EE.

    I guess everytime you find or buy an item there is a certificate of authenticity.

    It's only for stuff stolen by non-guild members, I'm sure. We need a 'thieves' guild stamp, +1, to mark our gear as stolen by appropriate authority.
