Plus I'll eventually get flame blade (the level 2 spell). and at level 2 there isn't a lot else I can choose. So I have time to cast it (I have to look up how long it and barkskin last) I'll have an option. Its not an enchanted weapon when determining what can hit, but it looks cool and thats all that matters
Yea it seems like there is a second party forming up here. @eyeofthegoat@paladin looks like you've got someone else to join you (plus anyone else here who is interested).
I put in a request for a multiplayer section to the forum for just this sort of thing.
I just figure once the game comes out there are going to be hundreds of people out there looking for partners (even when the match service is up) so it couldn't hurt to have it.

A multiplayer section on the forums would be useful, I think. I guess a lot of this will hinge on how accessible and easy it is to connect with people on the multiplayer when we get the game.

True but even just as a means for people in a group to easily communicate when not everyone is logged onto the game it would be useful (for scheduling and that sort of stuff I suppose).
Hey there - i haven't played in a while but am going to purchase on MAC and get back into it. I'm looking to play multi player as i've done the single player in both BG1, IWD & BG2 - long time WoW player, UO, EQ, DAoC, etc. I'm thinking of playing a spellcaster/mage type or an Archer and just wreak havoc from afar. I live in NYC - anyone want to play?
I'd also like to get in on that second party, i think it's up to 5 people now? I've always felt like this game would be better playing with more people, so that's how I want to start when this game comes out. I never really bothered to learn what spells do what and how to use them effectively when I played, since my main was always a fighter or a paladin. I pretty much just bumrushed every encounter and only bothered to use spells on the really hard fights. Needless to say, i won't be picking a fighter or paladin... I'm open to trying anything else really. Also, I've never tried multiclassing, so that might be interesting. I'd need help tho.
Couple things tho... I don't have a mic and also, will this be a RP party? Never RP'ed in anything. I'm in central time zone. Let me know.
And I agree on having a multiplayer section here. Already almost 2 full groups in this one thread.. Imagine if a third party starts up in here lol, might get a little crazy.

Hey! Unless I'm mistaken, you're our fourth. No roleplaying or microphone necessary. I don't think anyone will have a problem helping you out along the way either

What kind of classes do we got so far? I only saw that one of the group was gonna be a half orc berserker or thief.. and assuming xzeulon joins, he said archer or caster. What about the rest?
Is there a site where you can experiment with character creation(with the changes to the game), cause that would be awesome. I'm currently installing the original to mess around with character creation. Like I said, I'm good with trying out anything, so if you guys got your characters locked down, makes my decision easier. I'll have a better idea after i mess around in the original.
lol, I pretty much forgot about this game as soon as I pre-ordered in Sept, cause I knew as soon as i got involved in the forums I'd be itching to play. And it has happened. Gonna be a long 4 days.
Be weary of anything these sites say however. Some things, like the totemic druids summonings, have been changed in BGEE (that is just one example in its case it got nerfed). Guides like these are helpful, but don't let them dismiss kits or classes you might be interested in because in a select few cases they are inaccurate (the Stalker's backstab multiplier would be an example of this - sorcerers.net, gamebanshee, and your gamefaqs link all got this wrong because of a false in-game description) or they are incredibly biased towards/against certain classes (that gamefaqs rating system is BS in my opinion). Also that FAQ from gamefaqs actually only pertains to in some cases to Shadows of Amn, as I see at least one case where it doesn't even include Throne of Bhaal information (limited druid information past level 14 would be an example of this).
Play it hardcore is good especially for its tables I find, with the exception being the specialist mage chart (the invokers only opposite school in BG2 and in BGEE is enchantment).
I had noticed some of those errors, myself. Such as the Stalker Backstab multiplyer. (Should read X2 at levels 1-8 I believe, etc.) I also disagree with some of Simpson's ratings, just due to the fact that Monk and Kensai take awhile to get going, and will have a hard time in BG1/EE.
Also, I believe the *Grand Mastery* bonuses for BG2/ToB/Tutu/BGT are all much weaker than what we will receive in BG:EE. So there is that.
(+3 THAC0/5 Damage/2 Attacks for BG:EE?)
I did not know they were so outdated as to not include ToB, however!
I have found those tables to be very useful as well, at PiH.

I should correct myself. I haven't done a detailed analysis of it lol. In the case of the druid he includes some ToB benefits but leaves out some things. Its kind of odd. He also seems to like the shapeshifter over a regular druid, which frankly given its lack of armour in SoA and ToB I can't say I would agree (given the availability of ankheg plate mail).
I don't think he's right either on the power of greater werewolfs. From what I've read here over the last number of months they certainly don't hit as a +4 weapon. I've only ever played avengers or figher/druids, so playing as a shapeshifter for our game is actually a first for me.
Yea I figured some of it was old info when I was reading it. Still, it helped refresh a lot of things seeing as its been years since I played through either of the games. Also been reading through the new manuals... But no matter how much info I get, I'm still gonna need a lot of time deciding on a character when I load up the game lol.
Anyway, If I'm not mistaken, we've got enough people for the second party.
Very interested! Counting the HOURS to launch, lol! If you want, and we have an opening, you are more than welcome to join party # 1. Nothing is set in stone, and as you said, some that have expressed interest haven't posted in a bit.
I will be in the forums up 'til game day, gleaning as much info as I can about the mechanics, heh.
Just to make sure there is no confusion, there is no way we will be grouping on launch. Semester doesn't end until dec 18th, so I will be trying to squeeze a little single-player ambrosia inbetween bust-my-ass final's sessions. But as soon as dec 18th rolls around its on ^.^;
I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a game. Gonna suck waiting for BG2EE, but then again, I guess with people schedules and what not, a 6player game will take a few weeks AT LEAST. not to mention I'll want to play a solo campaign at some point to get all the good follower dialogue as well as try the new characters and whatnot... So actually by the time i experience all that, BG2 might be right around the corner lol.
So out of curiosity, for group A how much in-character are we going to be, should I be taking the time to write up a background and personality for my Wild Mage?

I'm sure you won't be the only one here like that. Personally I'm most likely to be only really able to play on weekends/later in the day on weekdays.

I may make comments in regards to us killing animals and that sort of thing. Or if our group is at a high reputation I may just type things out on the fly given my being a druid and all (like the direction we should take this new found reputation sort of messages). I guess it will depend on what I'm feeling. Knowing a few things as I do about areas of the game, and given my kit, I may make comments about the goings on during certain questlines.
But basically just do what you want. If you want to make a backstory go for it. Though you do start with a small backstory in the game (which you should be able to edit since this is using the BG2 engine).
Wait! You're telling me nobody else quit their job or dropped out of school for this game!?!?!? Just look at my pic to get an idea of how I feel about that.... (and wtf is up with my pic anyway or does everyone start with that lol)
But yea I guess its a good thing not to start right away... wouldn't wanna choose a character, get halfway through the game and just get bored of it or something (especially in multiplayer...) I started up NWN2 last week... played 4/5 hours into it.. then just restarted cause I didn't like my character... and then I did it again... luckily I found a charedit mod or whatever to fix my second play through... kinda felt like cheating, but it saved me another 4/5 hours.
I realize most people are reading up on what they want to play as now, but for me i really need to be in game at the character creation screen to really get an idea of what I want to play.. and even then I'm gonna wanna mess around a bit with different combinations.
Anyway what I'm trying to say is a late start will allow everyone to get comfortable with whatever they choose to play.

Xzeulon hasn't made another post since his first one above, but I'm sure he's still interested, along with the rest of you, I hope! lol
