It's weird, I actually like her portrait a lot more than I did before you started this topic. Thanks OP! (I'm actually serious about this)

her "other" portrait in the main page (http://www.baldursgate.com/neera.en.html) looks like Hannelore from Questionable Content... and I'm very much okay with that.

My only issue, if you can call it that, with Neera's appearance is that she looks so very young. Maybe she wouldn't to my 20-something CHARNAME, but it's an issue for me. Girl, not woman, is how I see her.

As for pretty/not pretty - I like the girl next door thing. I mean, yes, there are vixens in the world. They are a small percentage of a population of wonderful girls. Anyway, I guess my point is that there is more to the characters than that, and that they are what their artists make of them. If you're totally bent over that, find some picture of said vixen and replace character portraits with that on your game.

You lost me with "the is a problem with her young age" mate..... thats *not* a issue.. as long as its 18+.. besides.. am not planning on roleplaying a old man either

I don't know what your problem is, she is easily more attractive than BG2 Viconia or Aerie. The expression is really well done, you can feel her attitude. It's a different artstyle, sure, but not worse by any means.

Next you'll be asking Overhaul to give you the option to say "ey gurl u want sum fuk?" to every female NPC. Try to quit being a raging douche for like 100 hours, and you'll enjoy the game a lot more.

That pick-up line makes me laugh so hard. :D

She sure looks young, but not underage in my eyes. I'd say she might be in her early twenties?

What's the elven equivalent for that? 130s? Maybe she's already been a romanceable NPC to Gorion... :)
  • DarksheerDarksheer Member Posts: 84
I believe she is half-elven and thus aging more-or-less like a human, so propably not an ex-girlfriend of Gorion. ;)

In general I was a little dissapointed with all the new character portraits, but mostly with Neera's picture. They just weren't the same quality as BG1 portraits and although I've grown to like Rasaad's picture I still find Neera's and the orc half-breed's portraits lacking.

Still, it won't spoil my fun. I'll propably even inlude Neera to my party if her opinion of Edwin isn't too dramatic. :)

ps. I really like the other picture of Neera very much, the one on the background on her page at baldursgate.com... perhaps I will mod a portrait for her from that. :)

well, she's an elf, so she's like 90 or something...

I remember when Jaheira called Aerie "child" one too many times, she screamed "I am not a child, you are 50 something, but I am 100 something" or something like that

So don't worry, no human character would be a pedophile near Neera ;)

@Alparon Actually she IS a half-elf, so hardly at her 90's. Elves mature at 110 years or so (according to 3rd edition dnd atleast) although physically much much earlier.

Neera: Gorion never told you what happened to your mother.
Charname: He told me enough! He told me you killed her!
Neera: No. I am your mother.
Charname: No... that's not true! That's impossible!

Thats your opinion mate, but really?

Its basicly a white ghost that has a huge chin, no face dept. And not to forget a expression that somebody might pull off, but in this case its more of "i hate this cowpie smell"

    Hello,

Question concerning the Wild Mage ?

Can they cast spell without any chances of "wild" effects ?

or can they only lower the chance of "wild" effect with the Nahal spells ? (Or Chaos Shield).

Here you go mate, personaly i think Wild Mage is more of a Roleplay choice , but i must admit its fun fun fun.

While i prefer sorceror , wild mages are a great class, and perfect for a lovable cute girly sidekick...

Well that was the point i belive before they made the portrait a 12yr old boy with a flat face dipped in flour... or .... cocain ?.. ehhe

    There's a 1 in 20 chance of a wild surge.

I would say that about one third of the surge results are decidedly bad, one third decidedly good, and one third neutral. So you have about a between a one and two percent chance of something unintended firing that is really bad when a Wild Mage casts a spell. And, as mentioned it's a 5% chance of that something other than what you wanted will happen instead.

As for the modifying spells you mentioned:

First you complain about Neera's portrait not looking like the other BG portraits, then you complain about her having the original Baldur's Gate Neon Glow shining on her face?

Dude, am to select with 2 lesser evils.. neera portrait is colorated differently than the other bg images.. so i get to choose.... ill take the one where she dont look like she has a flashlight in her face... and wish for more changes i might add

And yes in a perfect world i would like it redone to be in line with the other BG pictures... but i dont have the skills to do that myself, so i am reduced to complaining and begging ...

    beggars can't be choosers :(

Subtlety is everything Medivh, literally all I did was stop her frowning, most people are prettier when they're not making cranky faces.

I'm unlikely to actually change the image beyond the simple recolour at present, since I actually rather like the girl, she looks interesting. Maybe you could bug Lady Rhett to make a beatification challenge in the next fanart challenge, I might do it then, depending if I'm not too preoccupied running through the actual game.

Medivh1234 I just have to say, after reading both of these Neera threads, you come off as creepy and overly obsessed with looks. And this is speaking as an actual woman in my 40's. And just so you know, here's my sexiest male character image: image

Along with this guy, also from the same game: image

uhu ... ok ..i donno what am gonna say to that post Lady, so am gonna make a small story about it... okay?
Since i dont know you, and never spoken to you before, its to better explain my emotions when somebody pounce on me...

    The Hidden Strike, by Medivh

I am standing in a room with a few other people talking, then suddenly a shadowy figure runs into the room, tackles me and holds me down with vile clawing hands.

The figure then looks at me with white dead eyes and says in a shivering voice

"iii beeen watcchiiing you medivh, your movments, your bathroom trippss at night, you are creeeepyyyy"

Am lying on the floor stunned and afraid, trying to get away, screaming for help to @Pantalion, who ignores me and gets another soda pop.

"youuuu are sexxxxisssst meddiiivh.... i knoowwss it...... since am a wooommaan... and 400000yyyrss oldddd, here are some funny piccctuuussss,,,, it will break your SOUL"

Then the figure vanishes with a evil EVIL laugh and then i go into the fetal position and cry... as the room darkened...... mostly due to some kids making out in the corner and dimming the lights

Medivh never came home that day, and even today you can still hear voices in that room at the touch of night

    ",,,,,,creeeeeppyyyyyy,,,mediiivhhhh,,,,,,,,,,creeeppyyy"

    @LadyRhian
ps: Love your portrait on your account btw wellmade

    *facepalm*

How about we encourage the developers to NOT turn these games into a show from the CW network, where every single character is young and absolutely gorgeous? A good character is a good character is a good character. I don't give two figs for wether or not she is ugly. If anything it annoys me and takes me out of a game when every NPC looks like a supermodel.

And I agree with @LadyRhian here, you come of as extremely shallow.
