Pre-load: Let's turbo it

I saw that there is a "turbo" option for the beamdog client. Activating this seems to activate P2P download, meaning you download from other people as well as from beamdog meaning everybody downloads faster.

So, I encourage everybody to activate turbo, (this might also help on the 28th)

For those having problems downloading, I suggest using the method suggeste by Mortes on the Pre-load thread.

If you have problems to download the files with the official installer, you can try to download them with your prefered torrent software instead. To do it you'll have to login on the beamdog website and follow this link:

http://www.beamdog.com/client/beam/00766.torrent

It will download the BGEE torrent file which you can use to download the preload data files.
After the download finished, you can copy the 00766 folder with all its content over to the location of the official downloader.

Depending on whether you used the beamdog client or the dedicated BGEE downloader before, you should locate the '\BeamDog\Games' (beamdog client) or '\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition\Data' (dedicated BGEE installer) and copy the 00766 folder from the torrent download location into there. You'll probably have to overwrite existing files. Do so as those files are likely incomplete.

Now you'll only have to delete the files 766.beam and 766.status from this very same folder. Start the official downloader/beamdog client again. It will check the files and should confirm that the download is complete.

PS: for comparison: official client got stuck at 2% for me and wouldn't download anymore. Using deluge (torrent downloader) I was able to download with 300-1500 kb/s and had the download finished within 40 minutes.

Yeah, I am aware of that, but I would think it would be cool if we could make the beamdog client function better. Seems more hassle free

I only used 3% of my connecting when preloading, but it still only took 30 mins or so.. so don't worry.. all should have preloaded before the release ^^

And yes p2p do help alot.. I will give you guys tons of upload ^^

Downloading at 100K/sec, but it'll be done in 4 hours or so. Plenty of other stuff I can do while that's running

My upload speed was way higher then my down speed, not that it mathers, think it took me around 3-4 hours or something, cant say i payed much attention to it
Ill start the seed again tonight o/

I did it overnight, not sure how long it took, but at one point was reading between 10-20 B/per second O.o

No worries, I'm just hoping they spring on a "haha you can play it now pre-ordererers!" thing.....
