Gauth became friendly but still attacks?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Fighting the gauths in the underdark and there was a group of 3. I killed two of them and then the thirds circle becomes green and the talk icon shows up but he doesn't say anything and still continues attacking. Any reason for this?

    The gauth got charmed but its AI only knows to attack party members. Just kill it.

    Hm, I think my girlfriend my sophomore year in college was a gauth.
