The OC and addons are the face of the game, the core thing which will attract attention of the newcomers. So it DO should be released as an attractive and interesting part of the game. I agree with the authors of this letter!
This was settled in the streams weeks ago. @TrentOster replied specifically to this thread. He said that BD are not going to revamp it. He then invited anyone interested to do it themselves. Out of curiosity, I looked at just the prelude and came to the conclusion that I am not that crazy. I do have a life outside NwN and not enough free time to redo all that. Also I have noted that the silence from people saying they are going to do this has been deafening.
The tools are all there. The gorgeous community art assets are all there. So, if you want it that bad, do it yourself.

update your Journal! The situation has changed gradually, as you can see. Please, stop this ''comment war''. Beamdog don't need this. They need positive feedback, especially when it comes to Steam. They need the game to be successful. Any discord among community members doesn't make sense for anybody.
There is a point that needs to be considered. They are making enhancements to the game. They want to unhard code many features as the trello board indicates. People want the OC updated to the expansion pack henchmen. People are asking for FPC, People want more content in the OC. Adding a 4th class.
Point is: It makes more sense to wait until all the other features are done and then do an update to the OC with all the new features because down the road people are going to want it just like they want the OC to be updated to the HoTU henchman system. (That is if they do it)

Cannot agree more. I feel that there is more than enough to do in terms of unhardcoding and technical updates to the engine, toolset etc to be done before we head into altering any stuff that is already there or adding fancy new stuff. For example, when looking at the input Trello boards, I think that the categories Toolset (support), Engine and Data are all things that should come first before we head to getting into targeting the OC/expansions or looking at the Models/Animations, Art and Graphics section (although of course some things will have a dependency). UI is somewhere in between.
At first I was a little bit sceptical concerning the possible changes for the OC and addons. Why? I am the modder. I сan change and I am changing the modules myself, adding what I want. ''Official'' changes in OC for me means that I have a lot of work to be done with my own OC mod. o And then the game was released. And what did I see? Nothing. No, I am not going to blame someone for that. After all we were not promised much on the stage of release. Thought it was mentioned we have to wait for more interesting features. More opportunities, more conveniences and so on. I want it to be so. More new content for me means more joy and happiness both for players and modders. After all there are not too many good stories, and too many boring and ''grey'' ones. Yes, we need new modding opportunities, that's true. But we do need good adventures as well. Adventures which will remain in our memories forever. And it is difficult to save in memory smth which doesn't exist. So we need to create new stories, as well as improve the old ones, so that they will become attractive for ordinary players. There are a lot of gaps in OC, that's not a secret. And now, with EE edition, the developers have the opportunity to turn these gaps into benefits. Enhanced OC will attract more players with their own ideas, and, as a result - new fan-made content. That will be good for the developers as well. I understand the position of those who are against this idea. We may have endless debates, but the truth is the OC do needs renovation. Those, who struggle for the new content to the OC - don't give up. I am on your side.
You do not speak for the Neverwinter Nights community.
Neverwinter Nights is designed to support the robust indie development of full adventure modules. Why do you think that everything you want from a game like that has to come from the primary developer? And as their first deliverable? With respect, I don't understand that.
I've never understood, post GamerGate phenomenon, this complaint that this or that game is objectionable on xyz or abc grounds. Well OK, you don't have to buy that piece of Art.
The beauty of the Arts including videogames is anyone is free to create anything they want to (given effort), and with NWN Aurora toolset, folk have been able to create any narrative with any worldscape to suit their own peccadilloes since 2002.
I agree with open letter, If original campaign is "bad" and "garbage" then Beamdog must enhance campaign, new content in old campaigns and enhance old content, like BG EE
You do not speak for the Neverwinter Nights community.
If you mean to imply that many in your particular group feel this way, then by all means feel free to say so. The many of us who strongly disagree that Beamdog's limited resources should be used up on such efforts will speak our mind as well. We will continue to point out that it could spend those resources more effectively on first modernizing the game; that doing so will open up many new possibilities for its future, including the ones that you want; and that there will not be a commercially viable NWN:EE if they don't.
I would also point out that those improvements, which no one else can make, will enable the modding community to build viable expansions and continuations for the OC -- if there really is a significant player demand for them. This didn't happen before because Bioware and Atari declined to give permission to make fan mods of the OC. Trent has already stated on the forums here that we will now have that.

They shouldn't be using their limited resources to make Axis and Allies mobile/ish games either.
I just want to add my two cents here. I am happy to support Beamdog by buying the premium modules they sell, but ONLY if they keep updating and improving the game's core features. NWN1 is still suffering from a lot of bugs and weirdness and it seems that the Trello board has been abandoned, which worries me.
I guess my point is that a clear line of communication between the company and their customers equals more income for Beamdog as long as that communication is accurate and reliable. I know you make announcements when you publish an update, but knowing what you are working on is also important.

Yes, new content on the official level is a good idea!

Almost no one is here for that game.
LMAO. That's funny, not to mention absurd.
