Low FPS in BG, BG2 and IWD - EE

BieliqBieliq Member Posts: 14
Hi

I have old laptop that in theory should run all those games without much problem but unfortunately it does not. Alternate renderer helps a lil bit but still not enough, i got like ~20 fps in those games. PST is close to 30 fps. IWD struggles the most, even with beta 2.5 and alternate renderer.

Is there anything i can do (except getting new laptop)? I even installed windows xp.

Maybe have a look to see if your graphics driver can be updated? I was advised to do that and it helped the games to run better.

G'Day @Bieliq. You are correct, this system should be able to run a bit better than what you are showing. I have had it running reasonably well on an HP Omni 10 (uses an Atom processor) with 2GB RAM @1920x1200 resolution.

The first thing I would do is to update DirectX to 9.0c. If I am reading this right, it looks like you are only running v6 of DirectX and this wont do. Also and make sure your video and sound card drivers are upto date. Could you run dxdiag from a 'Command Prompt' or 'Run' in the Windows Start menu, save the results and upload?

Could you also upload your baldur.lua.

What do you normally run on the laptop (you indicated that you even installed Windows XP)?

I think i have 9.0c directx. My drivers should be up to date (ive checked with driver booster). I got this laptop recently from a friend, it had linux installed but normally it operates on w7.

    * I reinstalled directx but still the same

@Bieliq, everything looks good in the docs. DirectX 9.0c, drives upto date etc...

How far are you zoomed out? I find (even on my gaming PC) that being zoomed out impacts on performance, but when I zoom in to a reasonable level, it performs well.
