I've started watching football during the WC in France in 1998, so this is why matches from that tournament have the special place in my heart.
But if I'd try to look at it without sentiments, Netherlands vs Spain in 2014 (Van Persie!!!!), Brazil vs England in 2002 (oh, the drama there), France - Mexico in 2010 (I was in Paris at that time, imagine it!) are my picks.
re/2018 Portugal - Spain is definitely the match for me. I'll never forget this one-man show against a very special team.
I started watching in 1982 as a small kid. Brazil was hailed as the best ever back then, but I rooted for the underdog - and my Italy infatuation has lasted since then..
My favourite matches
1982 - Italy vs Brazil 3-2 (2. Round group) 1986 - Argentina vs West Germany 3-2 (final) 1990 - England vs Cameroun 3-2 (qf) 1994 - Brazil vs Holland 3-2 (qf) 1998 - Brazil vs Denmark 3-2 (qf) 2002 - Brazil vs England 2-1 (qf) 2006 - Italy vs Germany 2-0 (semi) 2010 - Uruguay vs Ghana 1-1 (qf) 2014 - Germany vs Brazil 7-1 (semi) 2018 - Span vs Portugal 3-3...
Most of all I have enjoyed games with many goals - even though I dislike sloppy defending, but there is just something about the world cup
Ps. Brazil has 5 world cups - they are the team to beat!!
But not like that! lol
The 7x1 had a very severe impact here in Brazil.
Usually, when it comes to WC, Brazil stops. This year you can barely notice that a WC is happening - except during the exact period when the national team is playing.
It's being really weird, TBH. Especially to me, as I'm a huge fan of the WC.
But to be honest, we deserved that score. And Germany had mercy because they could've scored more.

That game is epic and it stands out in a world cup that imo lacked qualiy matches... and it was a semi .
I’ll take my punishment without remorse

C'est la vie.
