BG1 romances and BG2

I'm not sure if this was covered already or not (I couldn't find anything), but will the BG1 romances interact with the BG2 romances?

What I mean is, will it be possible to have 2 simultaneous romances in BG2? (BG1 + BG2). Or will the BG1 romances confront you for starting a romance with a BG2 romance?

Think Neera and Aerie at the same time for example.

I know you can't romance Aeria and Jaheria at the same time, curious if the same goes for the new romances.

Thanks!

I dont know, but I highly doubt you will be able to have two romances at the same time in BG2EE.

I would expect the same, but I'm not sure if they can add the dialogue for existing NPCs to confront you about it. Creating a bit of a loop hole maybe?

It's not been covered as the workings of BG2:EE have not been decided yet. However, since interaction between new and old NPCs is allowed in the contract, it would seem very likely that romance conflicts will appear in a similar fashion as current BG2 if you pursue several romances simultaneously.

Other options would be that new and old NPC romances don't react at all to each other, which would be immersion-breaking enough to be considered a design flaw or bug; or that an old and a new NPC agree to both be in a relation with you, which seems extremely unlikely compared to making you choose.

You'll be able to continue the BGEE romances in BG2EE. The BGEE romances are more just a start to a romance than a full-blown romance.

I like to think of them as "close friendships".

So they're like close friendship paths but only available for eligible player characters?

Which characters are even romanceable in bgee? Just the new ones? And does romancing work in the same way as in bg2?

    Better than "parental figures"

What happens in Athkatla stays in Athkatla.
