Builders Wanted - Scripted Paradise Seeks Capable Builders

Talented BUILDERS, there are not enough hours in the day. We need your help.

We have a super-stable feature-rich server. It runs lag-free despite being managed by over 4000 scripts, and despite including 1337+ areas (most of which are 16x16 tiles) too. This is a server that has been available to players almost 24x7 since 2007. It is hosted on a dedicated server in a data center - with enough system resources to spin-up another half-dozen such similar modules. We are building a whole D&D campaign world here, come join us!

Who is behind this monster module?

The Designer / Lead Builder "GM_ODA" ( ... 'me') hails from the USA, is a DM since 1978, a computer programmer since 1981, a telecommunications specialist since 1986, and a fellow involved with the games industry as a professional since 1988. GM_ODA began building the Argentum Regio module in 2003-2004, with the Internet debut of the module occurring about two years later. Time Zone USA Eastern "UTC-5" - sleep schedule 'unpredictable'.

The Lead Scripter "Eriniel" hails from the UK, is a few credits shy of her Masters degree (programming), she is a brilliant and talented young lady who also speaks Gaelic! Eriniel joined the team a few weeks after the Internet debut of the module and has been our Lead Scripter ever since.

What have we built so far?

The feature list is mind-boggling in length, breadth and depth. What started as a homebrewing of systems carefully selected from the vault and further propped-up by custom coding by GM_ODA saw a proper overhaul by Eriniel who gutted most of the original code and went on to create custom programs running on our server to enhance the module operation.

Today the code base is almost unrecognizable when compared to the original module, it still features some solid system such as (enhanced) NESS, Quest systems by Vuldrick Garrison and a few others, the rest is largely custom built. An incomplete list of features include the following.

PCs can walk and run, of course, but also swim, climb, fly, jump and squeeze-through tight spaces. PCs can learn crafting (enchantment, herbology, metalurgy and woodworking), can gather or purchase resources and create awesome magical items. PCs can make camps, cook food (or ruin it), and even poison items and sources of food and drink. PCs can smell smoke which is associated with fires, and will feel the bite of cold weather if they lack suitable garb or shelter.

PCs can learn new spells, of which the module features more than 100, drawn mainly from D&D standard lore. PCs can learn to use and detect Portals, travel to far worlds and experience exotic things. PCs can hide inside container objects of suitable size, can climb trees and even ambush from such vantages. PCs can milk cows and make cheese! Go berry-picking, or fishing or hunting for the resources such efforts can yield.

There are Player controlled 'realism' settings. There are wear-and-tear systems for gear, weather, and even PC condition (dirty, stinky, unkempt, wet, etc.). There is even a system that allows the player to input the PC's backstory in a way that the game and our DMs can utilize to enhance the game experience. The server includes Player Owned Housing which can be decorated as desired, including the addition of locks on doors and windows. Support for Detect Magic and Detect Evil are here! Recipe learning, mentors that teach, PCs can throw items to other PCs. There is full Guild support.

Those PCs with 'nature lore' can track and scavenge for resources others would miss in the wilds. Shape changers gain the benefit of the shape to include even scent tracking, jumping, digging, climbing and more. Wilderness and rural areas are dotted with hidden trails the nature savvy can detect and use (and permit those who are in their party and presence to use also)!

Those PCs with 'urban lore' can use windows, act as con-men or extortionists, and even burglars! Some even learn shadowy arts of poison and sedative! Kidnapping and shoplifting are supported!

Those PCs with 'arcane lore' can utilize powerful tools to examine resources and magical items, thereby gaining insights to how these items are created and what powers may be offered by exotic resources.

Lycanthropy (moon phase based changes) and vampirism (mist form, coffins, stakes and all) are scripted systems here, as are diseases and parasite infections.

PCs with divine affiliations can call upon special powers via use of Holy Symbols and custom Rituals. Consecration of items, objects and locations is supported here.

Support for persistent Undead Minions for Necromancers and Pale Masters is here, as is D&D-true treatment of Trolls and Purple Worms!
