Pathfinder: Kingmaker... Linear or open?

Hey, I've seen a lot of praise here for Pathfinder: Kingmaker, at least enough to start watching a few streams. Turns out I hate myself just enough to watch people play games I'm interested in before playing them myself. Eh bien: I'm only just interested in knowing whether it feels open enough to carry on the legacy of BG1 or if it's linear like ToB*.

*We all love ToB and all, but aside from the point of order at which you choose to go into WK, it's fairly linear in terms of what to do next, right?

There have been many games that were meant to succeed BG , from NWN1-2 to Dragon Age,but in my opinion none have done it as well as Pathfinder: Kingmaker. From land exploration to party composition and interaction. Not only it gives you the same BG feeling but has a more modern feel on it.

The answer right now is "bug-ridden". I recommend the game whole-heartedly, but only in about another 1 or 2 months.

Oh, as for your answer whether its linear or not , the answer is : just like BG1 it has a main quest and in chapter 1 it is timed , but you can still explore the world map and find new quests and npcs.

I'd compare it to the base game BG2 experience more than anything. Maybe a little more like BG1 in that you can choose where to go on the overland map rather than just visit predetermined points.

I'd call it a linear narrative in a an nonlinear world structure.
